POSITION SUMMARY

 

The Senior Accountant will report to the Corporate Controller and ensure the timely and proper accounting treatment of assigned transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and support the month-end close, management/debt reporting cycle, and annual audit. The ideal candidate will have strong time management and critical thinking skills, creating efficiencies within assigned processes while maintaining accuracy and providing meaningful business insights. The successful candidate will embrace a “work smarter, not harder” approach to their responsibilities. Additionally, the Senior Accountant will perform account reconciliations and assist with special projects that arise throughout the year. To achieve these objectives, the Senior Accountant will build relationships with executive leadership, the marketing and supply chain teams, as well as our external strategic partners.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Responsible for all aspects of Gross-to-Net (“GTN”) accounting for the US and Canada business, including but not limited to:
  • Developing an understanding of customer contracts
  • Recording sales orders and other gross revenue items
  • Establishing, recording and tracking gross-to-net accruals/reserves (i.e., trade spend, shortages, chargebacks, returns, distribution fees, coupon liability), ensuring rates and methodologies are supportable
  • Performing variance analyses to prior periods, expectations, and budget for GTN items
  • Challenging/researching customer deductions as required
  • Presenting to management on GTN results, assumptions, and issues
  • Accounting for selling and distribution (e.g., freight, admin and broker fees) and marketing expenses.
  • Track and report cost of goods sold by product
  • Assist with all aspects of the month-end close process including preparation of various journal entries, reconciliations, and analysis as per management requests.
  • Provide support to the FP&A team as required (e.g., budget assumptions)
  • Support the quarterly debt/ management reporting and annual audit cycle by preparing reporting schedules and assisting with assigned audit requests.
  • Establish close working relationships with business / functional leaders to develop an understanding of their issues and needs.
  • Perform ad hoc projects and analysis as requested by management.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline accounting data and processes and work cross functionally to design and implement changes.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies that relate to assigned functions.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

·        B.S. degree in Accounting required

·        CPA is a plus

·        4+ years of relevant experience, preferably within the Consumer Packaged Goods industry (or an industry with similar gross-to-net mechanics)

·        Gross-to-net accounting experience required

·        Public accounting experience is a plus

·        Strong understanding of GAAP

·        Advanced SAP skills required

·        Adept with Microsoft suite of software tools including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word

·        Strong communication skills (both written and verbal) and ability to interact with all levels of the organization and external contacts.

·        Detail oriented, self-motivated and able to work on cross functional teams.

·        Innovative team player that challenges current processes.

  • Ability to multi-task, consistently meeting deadlines on multiple projects and activities
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.

·        Flexibility to work longer hours during month-end close as needed
