Data Support Engineer
Agilio Software
Background:
Agilio Software Group is a leading UK healthcare operations software provider, delivering integrated, mission critical solutions that support primary care, dental, pharmacy, hospital, and veterinary organisations. We have ambitious and exciting growth plans and are looking for talented individuals to be part of our journey.
iLearn is our learning and compliance platform, supporting healthcare organisations to meet regulatory requirements, maintain workforce competence, and deliver high-quality patient care.
The role:
As a Data Support Engineer, your primary focus and main objective is to ensure the reliable, predictable, and supportable operation of Agilio’s Associate Pay data platform across all customers.
You will own the day-to-day operational health of complex customer data integrations, including on-premises data collectors, cloud pipelines, and customer-hosted components. Acting as the bridge between Customer Success and Engineering, you will reduce operational burden on engineering teams while improving customer confidence, transparency, and outcomes.
You will be instrumental in building operational processes, monitoring, and skills within Customer Success to proactively manage data issues and resolve them efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own the operational health of customer data pipelines, including on-premise and cloud-hosted data collectors, integrations, and downstream processing.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex customer data issues relating to Associate Pay and customer BI / MI use cases.
- Lead investigation and resolution of data collection failures caused by infrastructure changes, external system changes, schema drift, or customer environment changes.
- Build and maintain clear runbooks, diagnostics, and operational procedures for common data issues.
- Establish monitoring, alerting, and reporting for data collectors, pipelines, and customer-specific integrations.
- Work closely with Engineering to define clear ownership boundaries, escalation paths, and handover points.
- Reduce unplanned engineering work by absorbing day-to-day operational support and customer-specific break/fix activity.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering to feed operational insights into platform improvements and roadmap prioritisation.
- Support customers who use the platform as a data warehouse, including guidance on data availability, quality, and limitations.
- Manage and coordinate resolution of issues across mixed hosting models, including Agilio-hosted and customer-hosted components.
- Contribute to customer communications around incidents, maintenance, and data quality concerns.
- Identify recurring failure patterns and propose pragmatic improvements to tooling, process, or architecture.
Essential
- Strong experience working with data integration platforms, ETL/ELT pipelines, or data operations in complex environments.
- Hands-on experience troubleshooting data pipelines across cloud and on-premise systems.
- Comfortable working with APIs, file-based integrations, databases, and external vendor systems.
- Experience supporting customer-specific deployments and non-standard architectures.
- Ability to read logs, inspect data, and perform root cause analysis without relying on core engineering teams.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to communicate technical issues clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Experience working closely with engineering teams without being part of a sprint-based delivery model.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (Azure and/or GCP) is desirable but not mandatory.
- Experience in healthcare, payroll, finance, or regulated data environments is a plus.
- Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders
Agilio operates in regulated, mission-critical healthcare environments. You’ll need:
- The ability to translate complex business domains into technical solutions
- Awareness of security, resilience, and operational risk
- A mindset focused on reliability and quality, not just feature delivery
