About the role
As Deputy Head of Advisory, you will be responsible for our advisory practice in Northern Europe and the DACH region. Your main objective is to grow, mentor and inspire our global advisory business with a focus on productization. You will oversee high-quality client work across climate, carbon and the wider sustainability landscape, including social impact, responsible supply chains, biodiversity and human rights governance.
Your time will be weighted toward people leadership while still keeping a strong hand in client work and product evolution. The list below sketches what success looks like for each pillar and how much of your time might be allocated to them:
Team leadership & coaching (30%): Amsterdam consultants feel supported, grow professionally, and deliver consistently; recruitment pipelines are healthy; retention is high.
Client acquisition & relationship building (25%): Key accounts expand; new clients are won in partnership with Sales; you are viewed as a trusted advisor by C-suite stakeholders.
Client delivery & quality assurance (20%): Complex engagements are delivered on time, use Holtara methods and data effectively, and receive top client scores.
Product & practice development (15 %): Advisory know how is codified into repeatable modules and new analytics features that feed the Holtara platform roadmap.
Key responsibilities

Support and mentor the Amsterdam hub.
Provide day-to-day mentoring, shadowing and real-time feedback for senior sustainability advisors
Design and deliver training sprints on climate strategy, social impact assessments, stakeholder facilitation, and core consulting skills.
Lead performance reviews, career-path planning and promotion rounds in collaboration with the Head of Advisory.

Champion an inclusive, high-performance culture.
Model servant leadership, psychological safety and continuous learning.
Drive initiatives on well‑being, inclusivity and sustainable ways of working.

Assure quality on flagship projects.
Serve as engagement director for net-zero roadmaps, climate risk analyses, supply chain due diligence, biodiversity baselines and other sustainability topics.
Review deliverables, coach teams on problem solving approaches and ensure consistent methodology.

Strengthen client relationships and pipeline.
Act as executive sponsor for Dutch and EU-based private markets investors; identify cross-sell opportunities and support complex proposals.
Represent Holtara at industry events and contribute to thought leadership pieces.

Translate expertise into scalable products.
Work with Holtara’s tech team to refine advisory toolkits into platform features, AI-powered diagnostics and data integrations.
What you bring
People first leadership. Experience line managing and coaching teams of consultants and operating in a global organisation spanning multiple cultures and time zones.
Sustainability depth. 10+ years in sustainability or strategy consulting with recognised expertise in climate and carbon accounting (GHG Protocol, SBTi, TCFD) plus familiarity with social impact, biodiversity or responsible supply chain topics.
Client service excellence. Trusted advisor to senior executives; adept at translating technical insights into board-level narratives.
Commercial savvy. Track record of expanding key accounts and supporting new logo wins in advisory or software enabled solutions.
Product mindset. Comfortable converting bespoke consulting outputs into repeatable, tech enabled offerings.
Global perspective. Able to collaborate across time zones; professional proficiency in both English and Dutch is required for the role
Academic grounding. Advanced degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, Finance or related field; MBA an advantage.
