FundRock NZ Limited is a licensed MIS manager under New Zealand’s Financial Markets Conduct Act. Through our Fund Hosting business, we issue and manage investment funds in NZ for:
offshore investment managers who want to offer PIE-compliant funds to NZ investors, but don’t want to go through the licensing process themselves; and
domestic investment managers who want to outsource the issuing and managing of their funds, so they can concentrate on investment management and distribution activities.
Senior Investment Analyst - Investment Management Oversight
Location : Wellington
The role is responsible for in-depth investment and operational analysis, maintenance of monitoring frameworks and scorecards, and production of high-quality oversight reporting to support governance forums, assurance requirements and regulatory expectations executing due diligence in all aspects.
Job Responsibilities:
Lead and support initial, ongoing and thematic due diligence on outsourced investment managers by coordinating information requests, analysing inputs, and drafting due diligence reports
Prepare regular fund performance and integrated monitoring reviews (performance, risk, mandate alignment), highlighting key themes, outliers and emerging risks
Contribute to the development and maintenance of IMO procedures, frameworks and guidelines on investment-related matters (templates, registers, workpapers)
Support with establishing and maintaining Investment Management Agreements by preparing analysis of mandate terms, reporting requirements, and oversight obligations
Review and provide input into investment-related disclosure material (including SIPOs and related investment content), identifying inconsistencies or gaps for escalation
Provide analytical and operational support to ensure effective liquidity risk oversight across schemes, including monitoring, stress testing, contingency planning/LMT readiness, documentation, and escalation aligned to regulatory expectations and statutory standards of care
Support in identification, documentation and monitoring of related‑party benefit transactions involving scheme assets, maintain the RPT register and evidence, coordinate required Supervisor notifications/consents or certifications, and escalate potential or actual breaches promptly
Skills required:
7+ years’ experience in investment analysis, portfolio oversight, investment risk, fund research or manager oversight
Strong understanding of NZ managed funds/MIS structures and delegated model oversight expectations
Demonstrated capability across all investment asset classes
Experience preparing high-quality governance materials (Investment Committee papers, oversight reporting, recommendations)
Experience with or exposure to Investment Committee structures and governance processes
Familiarity with operational due diligence and controls assurance concepts
Demonstrated confidence using AI-enabled productivity and analysis tools (e.g., Copilot) to enhance research, monitoring and reporting outputs
Tertiary qualification in Finance, Economics or related discipline
CFA Charter or progress toward CFA Charter strongly preferred (CAIA also valued)
