FundRock NZ Limited is a licensed MIS manager under New Zealand’s Financial Markets Conduct Act. Through our Fund Hosting business, we issue and manage investment funds in NZ for:
offshore investment managers who want to offer PIE-compliant funds to NZ investors, but don’t want to go through the licensing process themselves; and
domestic investment managers who want to outsource the issuing and managing of their funds, so they can concentrate on investment management and distribution activities.
Fund Oversight Specialist
Location : Wellington
This role is responsible for ensuring the effective and compliant operations of FundRock’s investment operations team. The role provides oversight of third-party suppliers, leads operations initiatives, and supports financial reporting and regulatory requirements.
Job Responsibilities:
Coordinate with fund administrators and auditors to support the annual financial statement process.
Support the preparation of financial statements to ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards.
Manager audit queries and ensure timely completion of audit requirements.
Manage relationships with third-party service providers, ensuring performance against SLAs and KPIs.
Conduct regular supplier reviews and escalate issues as needed.
Lead annual due diligence, including review of contracts, SLA’s and services agreements.
Support and lead operational initiatives including client onboarding, transitions and restructures, process improvements, and regulatory changes.
Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure timely and effective delivery.
Monitor milestones provide clear reporting to senior stakeholders.
Act as the first point of escalation for operational incidents.
Coordinate investigation and resolution with internal teams and external providers.
Maintain incident registers and contribute to root cause analysis and continuous improvement.
Provide guidance and support to junior team members.
Contribute to and foster a collaborative and high-performance environment.
Support in training and development initiatives.
Maintain accurate records ensuring compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements.
Carry out processes in accordance with the control environment.
Perform other tasks as required.
Skills required:
5+ years of experience in financial services (audit, investment operations, fund administration, or middle office roles).
Experience preparing or auditing fund financial statements.
Working knowledge of NZ regulatory frameworks (e.g., FMC Act, AML/CFT) and global best practice.
Understanding of financial instruments and trade lifecycle processes.
Strong analytical, problem-solving and stakeholder management skills.
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
Intermediate to advanced spreadsheet and data management capability.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related discipline.
Demonstrated ability to inspire and engage others, fostering a collaborative, team-focused environment and proven capability to stay organised and deliver quality work in a busy, fast‑moving environment.
