This role will require you to take an active part in the day-to-day operational processes of the Settlements Team and have a hands-on approach to support the settlement services offered to clients and other teams within the company. This role will also be responsible for acting as the second in charge for the Settlements Team Leader, managing escalations and supporting them with ad hoc projects and team management support.

Job Responsibilities:

The role duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following:

  • Accurately record trades in our internal accounting system, conduct trade matching with counterparties and instruct Custodians by agreed deadlines
  • Investigate and resolve any identified settlement issues and escalate to the manager when necessary
  • Ensure all reconciliation breaks are investigated and cleared promptly
  • Assist with corporate actions entry and checking as and when required
  • Ensure that all service delivery standards set for the settlements team are met
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of controls and processes that ensure Apex maintains a strong control environment that is industry best practice
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external clients
  • Oversee the team in the managers’ absence to ensure high level of service is maintained
  • Undertake other Investment Operations duties as reasonably required

Skills Required:

  • Previous experience within the financial markets industry, specifically within a settlements environment
  • Ability to organise own workload, manage time, prioritise tasks and meet agreed deadlines, with a sense of urgency and professionalism always.
  • Team player who is prepared to assist others when required
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to mentor and train new members of the team
  • Ability to use your initiative and problem-solving skills
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office, (including intermediate level Excel skills) and proficient working with multifaceted IT systems.
  • Customer centric approach to work with a passion for delivering a service that is second to none
