About Holtara
Holtara is the leading worldwide consultancy firm specializing in ESG advisory services and software solutions. We help our clients, mostly Private Equity investors and their portfolio companies, to navigate the complexities of carbon & climate impacts, implement low-carbon practices, and achieve their sustainability goals. We are seeking a highly skilled, experienced and motivated Principal to lead our Global Carbon & Climate practice.

About the role
The Principal will head the global Carbon & Climate Practice and leverage their expertise to manage projects and provide strategic advice to clients on carbon & climate performance management, focusing on carbon emissions, decarbonization, net-zero roadmaps and climate risk assessments. They will be leading the global practice, consisting of both a software platform and a team of expert consultants. The Principal is the in- and external Thought Leader in this field.
Responsibilities
- Managing several projects simultaneously and being relationship manager of Holtara’s key carbon & climate clients. Project topics include climate risk assessments, assessing carbon footprints in line with the GHG Protocol, supporting company management to a net-zero journey and aligning to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi).
- Leading on revenue generation and business development, introducing new clients to our firm and building out the service offering at existing clients.
- Being responsible for the revenue of the Carbon & Climate practice and its projected growth in- and outside of Europe.
- Leading on integrating various parts of Holtara, i.e. streamlining collaboration between various global teams into a single streamlined delivery process, by combining the power of our software platform and the expertise of our consultancy team.
- Coaching and guiding the team of Managers, Associates, Consultants and Analysts in both project management skills, content-specific topics as well as personal growth and career development.
- Staying up to date on current carbon and climate industry best practices.
- Developing and delivering presentations and training materials on carbon & climate, both internally as well as to clients and at conferences.
- Supporting in the general operational topics of our firm, on e.g. strategy, staffing, hiring and new market expansion.
Qualifications and ideal capabilities
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, e.g. in (general) strategy consulting, carbon accounting, ESG consulting or similar
- Business or Science study background – sustainability oriented preferred but not mandatory – e.g. MBA, Finance, Economics, Physics, Engineering, Environmental Management, Sustainable Energy technology, Earth Sciences
- Proven track record in leading teams in a dynamic environment
- Experience with having senior management (CEOs/CFOs/Directors) as client counterpart
- Business development experience, preferably in a consultancy/project-based setting
- Knowledge of the Greenhouse Gas Protocol, TCFD, SBTi and CSRD
- Strong critical thinking skills to analyse complex situations and develop creative solutions
- Strong team player and experience with managing and coaching junior team members
