Role summary

The Financial Crime Compliance (“FCC”) Assistant Manager will work within the FCC Compliance team, in the second line of defense, reporting to the FCC Senior Manager. The role holder is expected to ensure that the activities undertaken are in accordance with the relevant AML regulations and statutory requirements as well as in line with Apex Group policies and procedures. A practical and common-sense approach to preventing and identifying financial crime-related risks is expected.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide AML/KYC related guidance and support to the client-facing teams regarding the on-boarding of new clients and investors as well as their periodic refresh, for local and cross-jurisdictional structures
  • Demonstrate understanding of the AML/KYC procedures at all times, ensuring that high-risk matters receive an appropriate level of attention, escalation and sign-off
  • Ensuring that all day-to-day matters required to be completed are performed in a timely and satisfactory manner
  • Communicating with internal teams to ensure KYC collection is undertaken promptly, following up as necessary to manage outstanding KYC
  • Assist with managing escalations from daily alerts arising from overnight screening
  • Assist with responding to queries from the business to ensure tasks are dealt with in a timely manner
  • Ensure that screening is performed on new and existing clients/entities at both take-on and re-assessments (trigger events), ensuring that negative news / PEPs and confirmed hits are escalated and managed appropriately
  • Work with the client-facing teams to address CDD refresh or changes / trigger events to the client structures
  • Assist with the drafting and monitoring of internal policies and procedures
  • Assist with ad hoc projects as instructed by the FCC Senior Manager
  • Support client requests and remain client-focused
  • Liaise with colleagues around the business and wider Group to ensure efficiency and quality of work
  • Promote and deliver training as required

Skills / experience

  • At least 3 years’ experience in a CDD/KYC role
  • Understanding of Luxembourg/EU AML/CTF rules and regulations
  • Relevant professional qualification would be an advantage
