Assistant Manager – Fund Management
Role Location: Guernsey, Channel Islands
Department: FundRock Management Company (Guernsey) Limited - ManCo
Employment Type: Permanent, Full Time
The Role:
At FundRock Management Company (Guernsey) Limited you’ll get the opportunity to work at one of Guernsey’s only Alternative Investment Fund Managers (AIFM) giving you exposure to the investment portfolios of a variety of listed and private fund structures. The role will allow you to see the process involved in the valuation of private debt and equity instruments as well as the building of public equity portfolios. As part of the AIFM team, you’ll be responsible for monitoring these portfolios in line with requirements set out within the Fund’s prospectus’/constitutional documents and delivering regular reports to the Boards of these companies. In addition, you will build strong relationships with all key stakeholders through the delivery of your role, both the local senior team and further afield.
Key Responsibilities:
· The provision of Risk Management reporting, which includes;
o Reconciling investment positions and movements;
o Review of price movements to various sources, ascertain liquidity of portfolio in relation to regulation and rules as appropriate;
o Highlighting any potential issues for further consideration at board level
o Statistical analysis of valuations and production of graphical data;
o Monitoring and updating of the risk management frameworks
o Checking of work undertaken by colleagues as part of four eyes review;
o Preparation of Stock Exchange reporting.
· Review of Trade/deal requests made by Investment Advisors for either internal approval or onward reporting to boards.
· Management Information and communication;
o Liaising with the Investment Advisor and boards as required to ensure reports are accurate;
o Discussing any risk management issues that may have arisen or are likely to arise with relevant client representative.
· Compliance;
o Review of fund documents to ensure portfolios and valuations meet any regulatory or fund restrictions and working with the Investment Advisor to identify any potential breaches before they occur;
o Review fund documents (Scheme Particulars, Prospectus’ and KIDs) to ensure they comply with regulatory rules/regulations;
o Where required, ensure timely submission of fund documents and reports to required jurisdictions;
o Review of marketing rules and laws of respective jurisdictions;
o Assist directors with regular compliance reporting.
· Preparation of Board Reports;
o Preparing board reports, risk register/matrix and any other board communication as may be required;
o Attendance in monthly service provider, portfolio management, investment committee calls.
o Attendance and presentation in quarterly board meetings as required.
· Advisor Oversight
o Assist with advisor oversight visits to meet outsourcing requirements and identify operational risks;
o Assist with the preparation and review of fund factsheets.
· Other duties.
o Assist with the onboarding of new clients;
o Project management
o Available to assist in other duties as and when requested.
Skills Required:
· Ideally educated to ‘A’ level standard, or equivalent together with a minimum of 3 years’ relevant experience in the local finance sector or comparable role;
· Hold or be working towards a professional qualification, albeit not essential;
· Attention to detail;
· Self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously.
· Ability to work cohesively as part of a team;
· Excellent communication skills;
· Excel experience;
· Client relationship management skills for daily contact with clients and other stakeholders
