The Lead Engineer, QA will be responsible for testing related problems of complex scope extensively using standard concepts & principles. S/he has several years of experience and expert level knowledge in testing and development cycle. S/he works as a fully contributing team member, under broad guidance with independent planning & execution responsibilities. S/he possesses the ability to respond to detailed queries and suggest improvement in process. One of the core responsibilities is to coach, guide and mentor junior members in the team to help them scale up faster.




Knowledge: Having broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways. Contributes as both an individual and an informal supervisor on assigned projects.

Complexity: Works on significant and unique issues where analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles. Exercises independent judgment in methods, techniques and evaluation criteria for obtaining results. Creates formal networks involving coordination among groups.

Supervision: Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments. Serves as a mentor to others. Supervises others when leading projects they own.



  1. Considered an expert in the Product / Application with QA and technical experience.
  2. Owns the technical decisions on the manual test approach.
  3. Defines testing methodologies, metrics, owns process improvement initiatives, provides input to Automation team on Automation Requirements.
  4. Drives the ongoing maturity of test tools, manual testing methodologies, quality metrics and process improvement initiatives.
  5. Mentors QA Engineers / Senior QA Engineers.
  6. Understands customer scenarios, responsible for ad hoc and boundary testing.
  7. Understands Engineering Process, Agile methodology and Software Development and Testing cycle, and various testing tools used.
  8. Has advanced knowledge of core modules of secondary product.

Work Experience 

Typically requires a minimum of 6 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 5 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 4 years’ experience; or equivalent experience. Typical range of experience is 6-9 years.



SDLC, Test Design Techniques, Test Management, Estimation Testing, Test Case Documentation, Defect Logging, Defect Analysis, Project Management tools like TFS, MTM; Environmental Setup Configuration, Debugging, working knowledge in Programming/Scripting languages like JavaScript, Web Service API testing, XML/XSL, SOAP, JSON, web methods, etc.; advanced knowledge of database concepts, Oracle/SQL Server installation/configuration/Admin and DBA, profiling tools, should have worked on any of reporting tools like SSAS, SSRS; awareness of data ware house concepts, data mining, Analytics is an advantage.
