About the role

The PMO Manager oversees the planning, implementation, and tracking of a portfolio of customers and internal projects being managed by their project manager team.

 

PMO Manager ensures the projects are completed on time and within budget, that the project's objectives are met and that everyone else is doing their job properly. Projects require a group of people to work together to achieve a set of specific objectives and the PMO Manager ensures that is happening and removes roadblocks as needed. PMO Manager mentors the team and ensures the PMO Methodology is being followed and understood. The PMO Manager does Project Manage some projects and in addition bills under the Engagement Manager Role on projects which have a PM.

 

You will also:

 

  • Audit PMO Projects to ensure budget, timeline and scope management are being followed.
  • Analyze financial data, including project budgets, risks, and resource allocation.
  • Continuously evaluate projects to ensure they are meeting company standards, adhering to budget and meeting deadlines.
  • Weekly one on one project manager meetings to have a touchpoint on their projects and their workload and support they need.
  • Work with Director of Operations for process improvements
  • Maintain and train on methodologies.
  • Audit templates and methodologies are being used correctly.
  • Work with sales to present and sell our methodology to prospects and deals.
  • Lessons learned feedback for sales updates, methodology updates etc.
  • Onboarding of all new Project Managers
  • Manage and maintain team’s utilization of 65%
  • Lead and run internal escalation meetings, reoccurring meetings for go/no-go and RAG.
  • Manage the PS Software Data Accuracy.
  • 20% Billable as a Project Manager owning projects.
  • 20+% Billable as an Engagement Manager across remaining projects as prioritized per below:
    • Engagement Manager Role is a Service Leader representing the PMO side and Client Success. This role has different levels of engagement based on PM Level and Project RAG status. The EM needs to be in lock step with the Consulting Services Leader for PMO Support and successful projects.
      • All Projects within NSS (New Software Services) Department need to have the Engagement Manager copied on Status Meeting, Status Reports and Steering Meetings.
      • Project Steering Calls Attend as EM and prioritize on a weekly basis for Red/Amber and Associate Level PM.
      • Status Meetings:
        • Project Managers at the Associate Level the EM needs to attend all their projects internal and external at a minimum bi-weekly
        • Project Manager to Principal Level the EM needs to attend once a month their projects internal and external at a minimum monthly
        • Projects in Red or Amber Status the EM needs to attend all their projects internal and external at a minimum bi-weekly until back to Green
        • Report to Director of Operations Project Updates Weekly on the projects attended.

About you

 

Typically requires a minimum of 8-10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD with 6 years' experience; or equivalent experience. Typical range is 10-13 years.

 

Depending on position, experience can range from 7-10 years.  Has work experience in professional services or support.

 

You must also have:

  • Strong Team Management Skills
  • Strong Training Skills
  • Very good educational background, preferably in the fields of computer science or engineering.
  • Proven working experience in project management in the information technology sector.
  • Solid technical background with understanding and/or hands-on experience in software development and web technologies.
  • Solid track record of relevant commercial experience
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • PMP certification.
  • Personal Characteristics – Enthusiastic, Works well under pressure, Self-motivated.
