Description

JOB SUMMARY: The associate underwriting analyst is primarily responsible for developing small-group new business quotes for Benecon consortiums. The position is also responsible for a broad range of technical and administrative functions within the Actuarial Division and supporting several other Benecon divisions. This position requires strong mathematical and computer skills

and proficient written, oral, and interpersonal skills.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Develop small-group new business quotes for Benecon consortiums in accordance with established Benecon underwriting policies and procedures.
  2. Review quote requests from Producers to ensure all necessary information has been received. If any necessary information is missing, contact the quote team to obtain the missing information.
  3. Respond to email and phone inquiries from Sales Directors with regard to the rates quoted.
  4. Support Actuarial team on ad hoc requests and various other projects as requested.
  5. Create electronic records of all relevant quote data.
  6. Enter quote activity into tracking system(s).
  7. Maintain databases, quarterly reporting spreadsheets, projection models, and other ongoing tools used to service existing accounts on a periodic basis.

Requirements

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Must be able to sit or stand and type utilizing computer for up to 95% of the workday.
  2. Must be able to travel on occasion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in math, actuarial science, or related field preferred.
  2. At minimum, one year of experience in an underwriting role required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  1. Knowledge of group insurance preferred.
  2. Proficient written and verbal communication skills required.
  3. Ability to use Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint) required.
  4. Strong organization skills preferred.
  5. Ability to manage multiple projects / tasks required.
  6. Attention to details (task listing and follow-up) required.
  7. Ability to articulate thoughts in a clear and concise manner preferred.
  8. Must have knowledge of the specific information required in order to prepare rate quotes.
  9. Must be efficient and deliver quotes within the standard turnaround time.
  10. Must provide courteous and professional customer service.
  11. Ability to do repetitive, highly detailed work for significant periods of time without losing quality of work required.
  12. Problem solving skills required.
