Payroll Associate

Regular Full-Time

Position Overview

The Payroll Associate is responsible for ensuring that assigned and team client payrolls are processed timely and accurately, and communicates with clients and internal teams to resolve payroll inquiries.

The ideal candidate has strong customer service skills, knowledge of wage and hour rules, and general understanding of payroll procedures, preferably within the entertainment industry.

Core Responsibilities

  • Support various tasks associated with the preparation, approval, processing, and completion of time-sensitive payrolls.
  • Provide superior customer service to clients, building and maintaining strong relationships.
  • Respond promptly to client payroll inquiries and escalate issues or questions when necessary.
  • Assist coordinators and team members with payroll entry and client interactions, based on workload and deadlines.
  • Conduct quality checks on payrolls to ensure accurate and compliant entries, including deductions, manual handling fees, and tax adjustments.
  • Document and maintain assigned payrolls in the appropriate directory, software, or file, meeting all deadlines.
  • Process adjustments and corrections as needed to maintain payroll accuracy.
  • Coordinate with the Accounting department to ensure funds are received before releasing payroll or foreign wires (where applicable).
  • Protect business and client information by maintaining confidentiality and security protocols.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience in a customer/client support role, demonstrating exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Understanding of general wage and hours rules, including overtime, meal penalties, and W2 processing.
  • Strong data entry skills, with strict attention to detail when entering, transferring, and verifying information.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to engage with clients and team members effectively.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to meet strict payroll processing deadlines.
  • Working knowledge of PC systems, including Microsoft Office, to efficiently handle payroll tasks.
  • Quick learning ability, capable of learning and retaining technical products and systems.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with team members, establishing strong working relationships.
  • Self-motivated, critical thinker, with problem-solving skills to handle payroll-related challenges.
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed to meet payroll processing requirements.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience processing timecards, demonstrating familiarity with payroll procedures.
  • Experience with either entertainment union payroll or high-volume multi-state payroll

Special Work Conditions

  • Sedentary – Involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Some positions may entail exerting up to 15 lbs. of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force to lift, carry, push, or pull.
Compensation is commensurate with various factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, training, licensure, certifications, geographic cost of labor, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation range for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location.
The compensation range for this position is:
$22$23 USD
