The Director of Business Applications leads the strategy, delivery, and lifecycle management of enterprise business systems across Sales, Marketing, Finance, HR, Operations, and Support. This role sits within IT and owns a portfolio that includes (but isn’t limited to) CRM (Salesforce, HubSpot), ERP/Financials (e.g., Oracle E-Business Suite), HCM (Workday and other line-of-business applications. You’ll partner with functional leaders to shape the roadmap, run a high-performing applications team, and ensure secure, scalable, reliable platforms.

Responsibilities

Portfolio & Roadmap Ownership

  • Define the multi-year application strategy aligned to company objectives; maintain a living 12–18-month roadmap.

  • Prioritize initiatives via clear business cases, ROI, and capacity planning.

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute the enterprise applications strategy aligned with business objectives and digital transformation goals.

  • Develop multi-year roadmaps for application modernization, cloud migration, and process automation.

  • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to drive innovation and competitive advantage.

Application Management (Reliability & Support)

  • Lead implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of enterprise systems including Oracle, Salesforce, Workday, and financial applications, CRM, Finance/ERP, and other enterprise systems

  • Ensure high availability, scalability, and performance of all business applications.

  • Oversee application lifecycle management including upgrades, patching, and decommissioning.

  • Meet or exceed SLAs for availability, incident response, and request fulfillment.

  • Build a tiered support model, knowledge base, and training programs to drive adoption.

AI Roadmap

  • Design and lead the execution of a strategic roadmap for integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) across enterprise applications—including ERP, CRM, HR, and financial systems.

  • Identify high-impact use cases, align with business goals, and deploy AI-driven solutions that enhance operational efficiency, decision-making, and customer experience.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to ensure AI initiatives deliver measurable value, such as cost savings, productivity gains, and improved service outcomes.

Business Partnership

  • Collaborate with cross-functional business leaders to gather requirements, prioritize initiatives, and deliver solutions that enhance operational efficiency.

  • Translate business needs into technical requirements and ensure successful delivery through agile or waterfall methodologies.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive stakeholders on technology investments and ROI.

Team & Vendor Management

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing team of application analysts, administrators, developers, and project managers.

  • Manage vendor relationships for SaaS and on-premises applications, including contract negotiation, renewals, and performance reviews.

  • Coordinate with external consultants and system integrators for large-scale implementations and upgrades.

Governance & Compliance

  • Partner with Information Security, Legal, and Compliance teams to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR).

  • Implement robust access control, data governance, and audit mechanisms across all platforms.

  • Maintain documentation and training programs to support user adoption and compliance.

Stakeholder & Product Management

  • Serve as product owner for enterprise platforms (Salesforce, HubSpot, Oracle EBS, Workday, RAMP, etc.).

  • Translate business outcomes into requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria; oversee backlog and release planning.

Financial Oversight

  • Develop and manage the enterprise applications budget, including licensing, support, professional services, and capital expenditures.

  • Monitor and report on application performance metrics, KPIs, and business impact.

  • Identify cost-saving opportunities through system consolidation, automation, and process optimization.

Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years in Business/Enterprise Applications or Business Systems, with 5+ years leading teams.

  • Demonstrated ownership of CRM (Salesforce and/or HubSpot) and at least one major ERP/Financials platform (e.g., Oracle EBS, Oracle Cloud ERP, NetSuite).

  • Hands-on leadership over Financial or Other Business critical applications and experience coordinating a multi-app portfolio.

  • Strong experience with integrations (REST/SOAP APIs, middleware/iPaaS, ETL), data governance, and identity/access controls.

  • Proven track record driving roadmaps, stakeholder alignment, and measurable outcomes (pipeline, DSO, close time, forecast accuracy, time-to-hire, etc.).

  • Familiarity with AI/ML applications in enterprise systems.

  • Expertise in Agile delivery, release/change management, and ITSM processes.

  • Excellent communication and executive presence; comfortable presenting options/tradeoffs and influencing cross-functionally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in subscription/SaaS, fintech/payroll, media/entertainment, or adjacent industries.

  • Certifications (nice to have): Salesforce (Admin/Architect), Workday (functional), Oracle EBS, PMP/CSM, ITIL.

  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (SOX-like controls, SOC 2), privacy regulations (GDPR), and vendor risk assessments.

Compensation is commensurate with various factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, training, licensure, certifications, geographic cost of labor, and other business and organizational needs. Compensation range for candidates in other locations may differ based on the cost of labor in that location. The compensation range for this position is: $180,000.00 - $210,000.00 per year.
