JOB SUMMARY

Infrastructure Engineer IIs are responsible for managing CSI's computer, virtualization, and storage infrastructure. This includes the installation, configuration, replication, security, and access to all of CSI's underlying shared computer and storage infrastructure, including our VMWare platform and SQL cluster maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitors and maintains the overall health of the infrastructure by monitoring issues; makes proactive changes to stabilize the environment and avoid issues; troubleshoots issues as they arise; communicates actions or issues with necessary parties.
  • Patching and remediating vulnerability to ensure systems stay compliant, secure, and up to date.
  • SAN storage and fabrics by provisioning storage-based needs or requests from other engineers, configuring replication when necessary, monitoring capacity, assisting with disaster recovery by failing the service over to the replicated site.
  • Responsible for VM and Storage request approvals, maintaining software for all SAN/NAS storage and fiber switches, ensuring they are at target code; troubleshooting switch errors and storage latency, adding and removing systems to and from the SAN/NAS environment by zoning systems to the correct storage environment.
  • Acts as a single point of contact working in a team environment for virtual, physical and ESX infrastructure, software and tools to support Operations and Engineering functions including internal and customer-facing project deliverables.
  • Assists in the onboarding of the Kubernetes containerization orchestration platform with emphasis on Linux OS provisioning, security and automated cluster provisioning.
  • Manages CISCO/Dell computer hardware to diagnose and remediate issues affecting support and delivery in a dynamic environment’s cluster.
  • Monitors and maintains all SQL clusters ensuring they have enough resources; installing new instances and upgrading old ones; replacing physical hardware or adding new hardware to existing environments.
  • Performs annual DR tests ensuring the ability to fail over to another site if necessary.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • A more stable, secure, and redundant environment to avoid disaster situations offering a reliable system in which all systems run.
  • Comprehensive infrastructure maintenance and SQL production databases.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education & Certifications:

Undergraduate or trade school education with a focus on information technology or relevant job knowledge equivalent to college education.

Experience:

The minimum amount of relevant work experience required to successfully perform the job is at least (4) years.

General Direction. Exercises considerable latitude in determining objectives and approach to assignments. Completed work is reviewed from a long-time perspective for desired results.

This position requires close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less), color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors), and distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more). This position requires the basic need to look at a computer screen up to 8 hours a day.
