Job Description:

A manager follows direction of senior management and ensures that team function/department is staffed properly, employees have the training and tools they need, OKRs are met, and the department is managed to perform within approved budgets. The manager is a tactical leader for day-to-day interaction and decision making for the team and/or function. Provides estimates supporting needs, schedules, and assigns work to meet service targets. The Manager – Systems Administration position is responsible for managing and providing direction to a team(s) of employees performing systems administration to deliver optimally performing operating systems, software, hardware, and services. They oversee and coordinate activities for system backups, required maintenance, upgrades, and enhancements while ensuring system availability, functionality, and compliance with security and other technology policies and standards.

Supervisory & Management Responsibilities

  • Responsible for a team of employees within the department.

  • Hires, trains, evaluates performance of team.

  • Communicates policy and strategy to department employees.

  • Schedules employee tasks, following budgets.

  • Continual improvement and problem solving.

  • Upholds all policies and procedures, company culture and values.

Budget Responsibilities

  • Manages to budget set by senior management.

Additional Functional Responsibilities

  • Oversees activities related to systems administration for the delivery of optimally performing operating systems, software, hardware, and services.

  • Plans, designs, schedules, and delivers both simple and complex projects. This includes working with vendors and internal departments.

  • Utilizes various management tools to constantly monitor all CSI applications for compliance with corporate policies and metrics and work with IT teams to correct where there are issues.

  • Manages and executes tasks relating to maintenance, applications, processes, and deployment of the most complex nature. Performs back-up activities on environments owned by or maintained by CSI.

  • Initiates upgrades and/or enhancements for assigned technologies.

  • Implements and trains others on standard operating procedures, RUNBOOK documentation, and knowledge share manuals.

  • Serves as an escalation point for troubleshooting activities to triage of events and in a controlled manner; resolves complex system alerts and addresses issues on the most complex technologies.

  • Plans and budgets for future projects.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum 6+ years' experience or equivalent to a 4-year college degree; training in applicable technology preferred.
