About the role
As a Power BI Developer you will be responsible for developing advanced Power BI solutions that transform complex data into clear, strategic reports and dashboards. You will design and optimize data models, create interactive features, and ensure high performance for fast, accurate insights. Additionally, you will lead governance and best practices, supporting users and driving adoption across the organization, including Sales, Finance, Marketing, Product, and Customer Experience.
Main responsibilities
- Power BI Development & Data Modeling: Design and build advanced Power BI reports and dashboards, create scalable data models, and implement interactive features for enhanced user experience.
- Performance Optimization: Monitor, debug, and optimize DAX models and report performance using tools like DAX Studio and Performance Analyzer.
- Power Query & Data Transformation: Develop complex queries and transformations in Power Query, including custom functions and dynamic loading, ensuring efficient data refresh.
- Data Governance & Security: Apply governance standards, manage security (row-level/object-level), and maintain documentation, naming conventions, and data dictionaries.
- Quality Assurance & Testing: Lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT), validate data accuracy, perform regression testing, and document results to ensure reliable solutions.
- Training & Stakeholder Engagement: Provide training, create user documentation, gather feedback, and act as the Power BI subject matter expert.
Required qualifications
- Expert-level proficiency in Power BI, including advanced DAX and Power Query (M) for complex calculations and transformations.
- Strong knowledge of star schemas, snowflake schemas, and dimensional modeling.
- Proficiency in Python, JavaScript, and Azure data services.
- Solid experience in Power BI engineering with a proven track record of building and optimizing high-performance solutions.
- Solid SQL skills and working knowledge of Snowflake for querying and data modeling.
- Experience using tools like DAX Studio, Tabular Editor, and Performance Analyzer to optimize report performance.
- Understanding of Power BI governance, security, and administration best practices.
Nice to have:
- Experience with NetSuite and Salesforce data models.
- Knowledge of REST APIs and data integration patterns.
- Familiarity with Azure Synapse, Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, or similar CI/CD platforms.
- Understanding of data catalog, metadata management, and governance compliance.
- Background in SaaS, manufacturing, or technology companies.
