About the Role
The Application Support Engineer (SharePoint) is a hands-on technical role primarily responsible for the operational stability, maintenance, security, and day-to-day administration of Cyncly’s SharePoint environment. Working closely with the Application Support Lead, this position ensures the platform is highly available and supports user adoption effectively.
This role also provides secondary support for other internal IT applications and requires strong problem-solving skills, technical knowledge in SharePoint administration, and a commitment to resolving incidents promptly within defined Service Level Agreements (SLAs).


Key Position Responsibilities Include:
SharePoint Administration and Service Delivery

  • SharePoint Governance: Perform day‑to‑day administration of SharePoint environments, including managing site collections, ensuring optimal performance, and adhering to organizational governance policies.
  • Security & Permissions: Own and manage SharePoint site and list level permissions, security groups, and external sharing settings to maintain strict data integrity and access control.
  • Incident Resolution and Troubleshooting: Responsible for the end‑to‑end response, analysis, and resolution of all support tickets and service requests related to SharePoint and its associated features such as workflows, lists, libraries, and views.
  • Innovation & Technology: Drive the design, implementation, and adoption of SharePoint design strategies that enable the rapid adoption and utilization of AI‑based technologies including CoPilot, ChatGPT, and Claude.
  • Maintenance: Support and maintain custom SharePoint components, workflows (for example, Power Automate/Flow), and custom forms.
  • SLA Adherence: Ensure all support tickets and requests are managed, followed up on, and rigorously closed within the agreed‑upon Service Level Agreements (SLAs), utilizing FreshService for logging and tracking.
  • Serve as the technical resource for problem determination, workaround resolution, and assisting in the identification of the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for recurring SharePoint issues.

Technical and Collaboration Support

  • Utilize hands‑on knowledge of SQL Server and C# .NET to debug and understand issues in applications integrated with or built on the .NET framework, enabling efficient issue resolution.
  • Escalate complex or high‑impact incidents to the appropriate senior team members (Manager/L4) or internal teams such as
  • Development and Infrastructure to ensure timely resolution.
  • Work closely with internal IT teams and stakeholders to ensure seamless end‑to‑end resolution of customer issues and coordination of necessary support or fixes.
  • Maintain excellent customer service skills, providing clear communication and adherence to high service standards.

Documentation and Operational Support

  • Responsible for creating, maintaining, and updating comprehensive SharePoint support documentation and knowledge base articles to improve efficiency and self‑service capabilities.
  • Provide assistance and coverage for other team members as required, maintaining high operational coverage, which may include flexibility to work during core business hours such as EST hours.
  • Drive for results and meet targeted deadlines while upholding a commitment to quality.

Required Experience and Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 4–6 years of experience as a dedicated SharePoint Administrator or similar application support role with a heavy SharePoint focus.
  • Strong capabilities in Problem Determination, Workaround Resolution, and Root Cause Analysis.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • SharePoint Mastery: Expert‑level familiarity with administering and supporting SharePoint Online/Server, including site collection administration, security groups, features, and site configuration.
  • PowerShell: Proficiency in using PowerShell for SharePoint administrative tasks and automation.
  • Experience with AI tools such as CoPilot.
  • Experience with implementing good DMS (document management systems) practices to enable corporate policy compliance, for example, data labelling to enable DLP and execution of document retention schedules.
  • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting capabilities.

  • Planning & Flexibility: Good planning, organizing, and time management skills, with the flexibility to adapt to work schedules as required, for example, EST hours.

Desired Skills:

  • Basic knowledge of the Azure Cloud platform.
  • FreshService: Knowledge or experience with FreshService administration such as ticket category configuration and service catalogue updates.
  • Hands‑on knowledge and proficiency in SQL Server and C# .NET for troubleshooting application layers.
  • Practical experience in debugging and supporting .NET web applications integrated with SharePoint.
  • Knowledge in VB and debugging VB applications.
  • Ability to understand the logic flow of programming through reading C#, SQL, or XSLT content.
  • Ability to identify potential issues, anticipate, and proactively address them.
