About The Role:
We are seeking an experienced Senior Power BI Developer with deep expertise in Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, Azure SQL, and OneLake. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in building scalable data models, optimizing data platforms, and enabling high-quality analytics and engineering productivity insights. This role includes working with engineering data sources such as GitHub Enterprise and Azure DevOps, while driving best practices in performance, cost efficiency, and governance.
Availability from 12:30 pm IST to 9:30 pm IST is a requirement for this role.
Main Responsibilities:
Power BI & Visualization
- Build stunning, interactive dashboards and reports that communicate complex engineering metrics clearly and effectively.
- Develop robust data models, DAX calculations, and reusable semantic models.
Microsoft Fabric & OneLake
- Implement end-to-end analytical solutions using Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouses, Warehouse, Pipelines, and Notebooks.
- Optimize Fabric performance and cost, ensuring efficient compute and storage utilization.
- Manage and govern data assets in OneLake.
Data Engineering & Integration
- Consume and model data from engineering platforms including:
- GitHub Enterprise (repo health, PR metrics, deployment frequencies, etc.)
- Azure DevOps (pipeline performance, work item analytics, release metrics)
- Work closely with data engineers to ensure high‑quality, reliable, and well-modeled datasets in Azure SQL and Fabric Lakehouse/Warehouse.
Engineering Metrics & Insights
- Develop standardized engineering KPIs, including DORA metrics, developer productivity metrics, reliability, and throughput indicators.
- Drive adoption of data-driven decision-making across engineering teams.
Performance & Cost Optimization
- Continuously optimize Power BI dataset refresh, Fabric workloads, and query performance.
- Track and fine-tune Fabric capacity utilization for cost efficiency.
Collaboration & Leadership
- Mentor junior analysts/developers.
- Work cross‑functionally with DevOps, platform teams, and engineering managers.
- Contribute to governance, standards, and best practices across reporting and analytics.
Required Skills and Experience:
- 5+ years of experience in BI, data analytics, or data engineering.
- Expert-level skills in Power BI (DAX, Power Query, semantic modeling), Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Warehouse, Pipelines, Capacity Management), Azure SQL, and OneLake.
- Strong understanding of engineering processes, DevOps metrics, and platforms (GitHub, Azure DevOps).
- Experience with performance optimization and cost governance in cloud analytical platforms.
- Excellent communication and storytelling skills with data.
- Experience in large-scale data platforms or enterprise engineering organizations (preferred).
- Familiarity with CI/CD for Power BI and Fabric (Git integration) (preferred).
- Knowledge of advanced analytics using Python or notebooks in Fabric (preferred).
- Certifications in Azure Data Engineering, Microsoft Fabric, or Power BI (preferred).
