About the Role
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Application Packaging Engineer with 4–6 years of hands-on experience in Windows installer development and application packaging. In this role, you will design, build, customize, and maintain robust installer solutions for complex enterprise software products. You will act as a shared engineering resource, collaborating with multiple product teams to ensure reliable, scalable, and automated installation experiences across diverse environments.
This position is ideal for someone who thrives in fast-paced engineering pipelines, enjoys solving complex installation challenges, and takes ownership of quality and consistency in software delivery.
Key Position Responsibilities Include:
- Design, develop, and maintain Windows installers using tools such as Advanced Installer, InstallShield, Inno Setup, MSIX Packaging Tool, or equivalent.
- Build and customize MSI/MSIX packages, including custom actions, launch conditions, and installation logic to support complex application requirements.
- Develop and maintain automated build and packaging scripts to support CI/CD pipelines.
- Configure and manage installation components such as Windows services, registry entries, environment variables, dependencies, and prerequisites.
- Troubleshoot and resolve installation, upgrade, rollback, and uninstallation issues across various Windows versions and environments.
- Collaborate with multiple product and engineering teams as a shared packaging resource, ensuring alignment with release timelines and quality standards.
- Enhance installer workflows using PowerShell, Batch, or similar scripting languages for automation and validation.
- Ensure installer compliance with internal standards, security policies, and best practices.
- Maintain clear documentation for installer configurations, packaging processes, and troubleshooting guidelines.
Required Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4–6 years of experience in application packaging and installer development for Windows platforms.
- Strong hands-on expertise with installer technologies such as Advanced Installer, InstallShield, Inno Setup, or similar tools.
- Proven experience in building, customizing, and modifying installers for complex software products
- Ability to create MSI/MSIX packages, custom actions, configuration logic, and automated build scripts.
- Solid understanding of Windows installation frameworks, including registry handling, services, file systems, dependencies, and environment configuration.
- Practical experience with scripting languages such as PowerShell and/or Batch to automate packaging and installer processes.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex installation and upgrade issues in enterprise environments.
- Experience working in Agile or fast-paced engineering environments, supporting multiple products concurrently.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, QA, and release teams.
