The Senior Manager of Engineering is responsible for leading multiple engineering teams to deliver high-quality, scalable, and secure software solutions. This role bridges strategic direction and technical execution—aligning architecture, product priorities, and people management. The Senior Manager ensures engineering excellence through strong leadership, process rigor, and effective cross-functional collaboration with Product, Architecture, and Operations.
What you will do
Technical Leadership
- Drive technical strategy and roadmap execution across multiple products or platforms.
- Ensure architectural consistency, scalability, and operational resilience.
- Champion best practices in coding standards, CI/CD, observability, and performance optimization.
- Collaborate with architects to guide modernization, migrations, and platform refactoring initiatives.
People & Team Management
- Lead, mentor, and grow a diverse set of engineers, technical leads, and managers.
- Define clear career paths, performance expectations, and feedback mechanisms.
- Foster a culture of innovation, ownership, and accountability.
- Balance workload across teams and ensure sustainable delivery velocity.
Delivery & Execution
- Partner with Product Management to define priorities, scope, and timelines.
- Oversee sprint planning, release readiness, and quality checkpoints.
- Manage delivery risk through proactive escalation and dependency management.
- Ensure teams adhere to SDLC standards, documentation, and compliance processes.
Operational Excellence
- Monitor key delivery metrics (velocity, quality, incident rates, customer impact).
- Drive root cause analysis (RCAs) and continuous improvement post-mortems.
- Align closely with DevOps and SRE teams for availability, scalability, and performance goals.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work with Product, Architecture, Security, and QA to ensure alignment between roadmap, design, and implementation.
- Represent engineering in stakeholder meetings and executive reviews.
- Translate business goals into actionable technical execution plans.
What you will have
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 10+ years of overall software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role managing multiple teams.
- Proven experience with large-scale distributed systems, cloud (AWS/GCP/Azure), and modern frameworks (e.g., Java, Spring Boot, React, Node.js).
- Strong understanding of agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and DevOps principles.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and conflict-resolution skills.
Nice to have
- Experience managing global or cross-geo teams.
- Prior background in platform engineering, API-first systems, or microservices architecture.
- Exposure to security, compliance, or regulated SaaS environments.
- Familiarity with AI/ML integrations or data-driven product development.
