Job Summary:
The Director of Business Applications is responsible for leading the strategy, delivery, and optimization of enterprise application platforms across the organization, spanning both front-office (Sales, Marketing, Customer Experience) and back-office (Finance, HR, Supply Chain, Operations) domains. This role oversees cross-functional teams that manage, support, and enhance critical business systems to drive operational efficiency, scalability, and user satisfaction.
A key focus of this role is driving the ethical and optimal adoption of AI and automation within business processes and enterprise applications. The Director will guide the organization in responsibly leveraging AI to improve decision-making, streamline operations, and enhance employee and customer experiences—while ensuring alignment with data privacy, fairness, and transparency standards.
Working closely with business leaders, the Director ensures that application and AI roadmaps align with corporate objectives and delivers high-impact solutions through structured governance, effective vendor partnerships, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate combines deep functional knowledge, technical fluency, and a forward-thinking mindset rooted in business-aligned, responsible innovation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership & Governance
- Define and execute the enterprise applications strategy aligned with business goals, ensuring cross-functional impact across front- and back-office domains.
- Establish governance processes for application lifecycle management, AI/automation adoption, and data integrity.
- Application Portfolio Management
- Oversee the implementation, optimization, and support of core systems, including:
- NetSuite for ERP and financials
- D365 for CRM and field operations
- OpenAir for project management and PSA
- Gong for revenue intelligence and sales enablement
- CPQ & Zone Billing for pricing, quoting, and recurring billing operations
- Lead application rationalization, upgrades, and system integration initiatives to reduce redundancy and increase scalability.
- Oversee the implementation, optimization, and support of core systems, including:
- AI-Driven Innovation
- Champion the ethical and value-driven adoption of AI/ML capabilities within enterprise applications (e.g., sales insights from Gong, forecasting in NetSuite, intelligent workflows in D365).
- Ensure responsible AI practices by aligning with data privacy, fairness, and transparency standards.
- Integration & Automation Architecture
- Lead the design and execution of system integrations and process automations using platforms like Workato and Power Automate.
- Ensure seamless data flow across the application ecosystem while maintaining high data quality, traceability, and system resilience.
- Team Leadership & Vendor Management
- Build, lead, and mentor high-performing internal and external teams across business applications, integration, and automation functions.
- Manage relationships with software vendors and implementation partners to ensure service quality, roadmap alignment, and cost-effectiveness.
- Stakeholder Collaboration
- Act as a trusted partner to business leaders in Finance, Sales, Operations, HR, and Customer Success, translating their needs into scalable application solutions.
- Ensure end-user engagement and change management throughout project and system lifecycle.
- Operational Excellence & Continuous Improvement
- Define and track KPIs for application performance, support responsiveness, and business value realization.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement through regular retrospectives, user feedback, and process optimization.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in information systems, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.
- MBA or relevant master’s degree (preferred), especially if the role involves significant cross-functional business engagement.
- 10+ years of experience in enterprise/business applications, with at least 5 years in leadership or management roles.
- Proven experience managing and scaling application portfolios across both front-office (CRM, CPQ, Revenue Ops) and back-office (ERP, PSA, Finance, HR) systems.
- Direct, hands-on experience with:
- NetSuite (ERP, financials, billing)
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 (Sales or Customer Engagement modules)
- OpenAir (PSA/project resourcing)
- Gong (revenue intelligence)
- CPQ tools and Zone Billing
- Experience implementing and supporting integration and workflow automation platforms such as Workato, Power Automate, or similar.
- AI & Automation
- Demonstrated ability to drive responsible adoption of AI and automation within enterprise systems.
- Understanding of ethical AI principles—bias mitigation, transparency, and data governance—as applied to business systems and user-facing technologies.
- Technical & Functional Knowledge
- Deep understanding of business processes across finance, sales, customer success, operations, and HR.
- Strong familiarity with SaaS architecture, data modeling, system interoperability, and cloud-native application design.
- Solid grasp of data governance, security, and compliance in integrated enterprise systems.
- Leadership & Communication
- Track record of building, developing, and mentoring cross-functional teams, both in-house and vendor-supported.
- Ability to translate business needs into technical roadmaps and clearly communicate trade-offs to executive stakeholders.
- Skilled in leading change management and user adoption initiatives across complex environments.
- Certifications (Preferred but not required)
- NetSuite Administrator or Consultant
- Microsoft Dynamics 365 Functional Consultant or similar
- Workato Automation Pro or Power Platform certifications
- PMP, ITIL, or Agile certifications
- Strong stakeholder communication, collaboration, and crisis management abilities across cross-functional teams.
