Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, optimize, and secure enterprise SQL Server environments. The role involves hands-on responsibility for performance tuning, high availability and disaster recovery, security, automation, and Azure SQL platforms, along with proactive monitoring and production support.
Responsibilities
- Manage and support SQL Server environments (2012–2022) across production and non-production systems.
- Perform advanced performance tuning using execution plans, Query Store, DMVs, and wait statistics.
- Troubleshooting, blocking, deadlocks, memory grants, TempDB issues, and I/O bottlenecks.
- Design and maintain backup and restore strategies, including point-in-time recovery and DR drills.
- Implement and support HA/DR solutions: Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clusters, Log Shipping, Replication, and CDC.
- Monitor system health, capacity, disk growth, and SLA compliance.
- Implement SQL Server security and compliance features including roles, TDE, auditing, and data masking.
- Automate maintenance tasks using T-SQL, SQL Agent, and PowerShell.
- Support Azure SQL workloads (Azure SQL DB, Managed Instance, SQL on Azure VM)
- Handle production incidents, perform RCA, and participate in on-call support.
- Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams on deployments and changes.
Required Skills & Education
- Strong expertise in SQL Server architecture and internals (buffer pool, plan cache, transaction log, TempDB)
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 6–7 years of hands-on experience as a SQL Server DBA supporting production environments.
- Advanced knowledge of query and server-level performance tuning.
- Hands-on experience with Query Store, Extended Events, DMVs, and monitoring tools.
- Deep understanding of Always On AGs, FCI, Replication, CDC, and Log Shipping.
- Solid experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery scenarios.
- Strong SQL Server security knowledge (authentication, roles, TDE, auditing, encryption)
- Experience with automation and scripting (T-SQL, SQL Agent, PowerShell)
- Working knowledge of Azure SQL and Azure monitoring tools.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and ownership mindset.
