Wellington Central, Wellington, New Zealand
About the role
As part of our Financial Crime Team, you’ll be the right hand to the Anti-Money Laundering Compliance Officer and have oversight and control of nearly all aspects of the Financial Crime space (includes fraud and AML/CFT), with a particular focus on Assurance and Reporting.
If you’re currently in a bigger organisation, stuck in something a bit specialised or narrow, this role has a wide scope across both first and second line activities and the opportunity to make a real difference to our overall Programme.
Main responsibilities showing the breadth of the role include:
- Keeping our documents up to date and compliant, especially:
- AML/CFT Compliance Programme, Risk Assessments, and Sanctions Risk Management
- Designing and executing the Quality and Assurance Testing Programme, to make sure we’re doing what we say we’re doing (with regard to the above)
- Reporting the results of our key metrics to Management and Regulators.
- Leading and helping to implement the improvements we identify from regular updates and fixes, that are sometimes necessary to improve our compliance programme
- We’re a small and mighty team driven by the shared goal of helping New Zealanders bank better. If you’re passionate about making a real impact, this is your opportunity to experience better at The Co-operative Bank in every way.
We’re inspired to deliver better experiences and financial outcomes for our customers. If this sounds like you too, we may be the place for you.
You’ll bring the following experience to the table:
- Industry experience in anti-money laundering and/or significant experience in Assurance and Control testing in a compliance environment.
- Banking or Financial industry experience is highly desirable.
- A Financial Crime specific qualification is an advantage for this position.
- While not essential, experience within wider fraud teams would likely put you above other candidates.
Experience Better with Us
As a proudly customer-owned bank, not only will you be helping Kiwis achieve their goals, but you’ll also experience better:
- Career Growth: Expand your skills, take on new challenges and tap into a range of areas across the Bank.
- Purpose: As a smaller bank, your impact is bigger—you’ll see how your work makes a real difference in delivering exceptional customer experiences and financial outcomes, every single day.
- Support: We support you to handle life and work through generous benefits including Wellbeing Leave, Parental Leave Benefits, Life and Critical Illness insurance, Employee Assistance Programme, Banking Benefits, Profit Share and Workride.
- Belonging: You will feel like part of the team from day one. From the way we work together, our commitment to Pride Pledge, and focus on diversity and inclusion, you’ll be part of a team that’s making banking better for New Zealanders—together.
