About the Role

As a Senior Developer, you will design, develop and maintain services and applications, while contributing to the maintenance of the team’s development processes and standards. You will participate fully as part of the team responsible for developing, implementing and testing software, and act as an advocate for the team across the wider business and within IT.

Using your technical expertise and experience, you will enhance and support the platform to utilise improvements in technology, ensuring the continued delivery of cost‑effective, resilient solutions that meet user needs. You will also play an important role in supporting and mentoring individual team members, contributing to the spirit, culture, and performance of the team as a whole.

This role operates within a DevOps environment and spans the full development lifecycle, from design and implementation through to deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities:

Development

  • Develop, document, and test software solutions using various languages and frameworks, primarily TypeScript and Node.js, as well as third party components and applications
  • Apply design patterns, common frameworks and libraries, and different presentation technologies, and understand when to use each
  • Engage with senior technical staff and key business stakeholders to ensure solutions align with wider IT strategy and Fisher Funds business strategies
  • Take proactive approaches to the resolution of issues, including influencing changes in business processes where required

Delivery

  • Provide accurate and complete work estimates or duration based‑ or duration‑based
  • Keep the Platform Owner informed of progress, ensuring transparency and no surprises
  • Assist with the completion of project reports as required

Testing & Deployment

  • Contribute to the creation of testing strategies for new and changed application components
  • Support the development of test automation and CI/CD pipelines to reduce lead time and improve software quality

Operations

  • Design solutions with a strong focus on supportability once in production, reflecting a DevOps operating model
  • Support the identification and resolution of incidents, issues, and bugs, prioritising client‑impacting issues over project and new development work
  • Contribute across the full development lifecycle, including deployment, monitoring, and continuous improvement

Business Relationships

  • Achieve high levels of customer satisfaction through clear, professional communication and quality outputs
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders

Teamwork & Mentoring

  • Work autonomously within a team while supporting other team members and contributing to team goals and spirit
  • Assist and mentor others as needed to ensure overall service objectives and team targets are achieved

Quality Assurance

  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of quality standards for the team’s work
  • Ensure all outputs comply with agreed quality standards, including secure coding and privacy guidelines

Documentation & Reporting

  • Prepare system and process documentation for developed solutions
  • Produce design documentation mapping solutions to requirements
  • Prepare progress reports on individual and team activities

Innovation

  • Identify opportunities for business processes to be performed differently and promote these to gain organisational buy-in‑in

Skills & Experience:

Technical Skills

  • Strong proficiency in modern programming languages and runtimes, including TypeScript (particularly in API-driven environments), Node.js, .NET Framework / VB.NET.
  • Experience building scalable, cloud-native applications, with strong preference for AWS services including Lambda, API Gateway, Step Functions, DynamoDB, S3, Secrets Manager, EventBridge, SES, SNS, Firehose, CloudWatch, XRay, and CDK for infrastructure as code‑native applications, with strong preference for AWS services including‑Ray, and CDK for infrastructure as code
  • A DevOps-focused approach with hands-on CI/CD automation experience (Bitbucket Pipelines and Cloudflare Wrangler preferred)‑focused approach with hands‑on CI/CD automation experience (Bitbucket Pipelines and Cloudflare Wrangler preferred)
  • Strong understanding of observability practices, including Datadog and AWS X‑Ray
  • Experience with testing and code quality tooling such as Vitest, ESLint, Prettier, and MSW‑quality tooling

Solution Design

  • Experience applying technical knowledge to document solution designs based on business and system requirements
  • Familiarity with frameworks and standards that support clean architecture and API interoperability, including Middy (Lambda middleware), Zod (schema validation), OpenAPI / Swagger (API documentation)
  • Experience with Snowflake or similar analytics platforms is highly beneficial

Support & Operations

  • Experience supporting applications by analysing solutions, identifying areas of risk, replicating issues, determining root cause, and rectifying faults
  • Ability to provide feedback through appropriate channels and maintain accurate system documentation

Technical Writing

  • Proven experience producing and maintaining technical documentation that is audience‑appropriate and current with the production environment

Qualifications & Training

  • Appropriate tertiary qualification or equivalent specialised training and experience
