About the Role
The Senior Manager Wealth plays a critical role in accelerating the growth and performance of our wealth advisory offering across the Christchurch region. Partnering closely with the GM Managed Funds, you will shape and execute regional strategies that build momentum, deepen client engagement, and unlock new opportunities within both existing and emerging markets.
This role is about creating energy and direction across the region, setting clear ambitions, translating strategy into action, and ensuring the advisory team is focused on building strong pipelines of opportunity and delivering measurable outcomes. As a visible and influential leader, you will strengthen the organisation’s regional presence, elevate our market reputation, and consistently convert opportunity into long‑term client relationships.
You will lead and inspire a team of Wealth and Senior Wealth Advisors, creating an environment where high performance, accountability, and client focus are the norm. While driving growth, you will ensure excellence in client experience, regulatory compliance, and alignment with broader organisational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
Regional Growth & Market Expansion
- Design and deliver regional strategies that build momentum and achieve ambitious growth targets across the Christchurch and South Island client base.
- Actively identify and progress opportunities to expand market presence, increase share of wallet, and attract new clients to the organisation.
- Maintain a strong understanding of market dynamics, competitor activity, and client trends to continually refine regional focus and priorities.
- Translate organisational strategy into clear regional plans that drive disciplined execution and tangible outcomes.
Leadership & Team Enablement
- Lead, coach, and motivate a team of Wealth and Senior Wealth Advisors to consistently perform at a high level.
- Set clear expectations around activity, quality, and outcomes, creating focus and momentum across the region.
- Build a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement, where performance is visible and celebrated.
- Ensure all advisory is delivered within regulatory and organisational frameworks.
Client Relationships
- Champion a relationship led approach to growth, ensuring advisors build trusted, long-term partnerships with clients and prospective clients.
- Provide oversight and guidance on the management of private portfolio clients, ensuring tailored strategies that align with client goals and aspirations.
- Role model strong engagement with key clients and stakeholders, reinforcing the organisation’s value proposition and market credibility.
Performance & Commercial Discipline
- Monitor regional performance across key indicators, using insights to guide decision making and prioritisation.
- Set, review, and adjust performance expectations to ensure consistent progress toward regional objectives.
- Provide clear, regular reporting on regional results, risks, and opportunities to senior stakeholders.
- Maintain high standards of operational integrity, governance, and compliance while driving performance.
Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated experience leading high performing sales, advisory or client facing teams, within financial services if possible, however not mandatory.
- Strong commercial mindset, with a proven ability to identify opportunity, drive growth, and deliver results at scale.
- Experience developing and executing regional or portfolio-based growth strategies aligned to organisational goals.
- Exceptional capability in building, influencing, and sustaining senior client relationships.
- Confident performance leader, comfortable setting targets, monitoring progress, and driving accountability.
- Highly analytical, with the ability to interpret data, spot trends, and convert insight into action.
- Strong understanding of wealth management and relevant industry regulations; Level 5 Financial Services Certificate (Investment Strand) is advantageous.
- Results‑driven, proactive, and resilient, with the ability to balance strategic focus and hands‑on leadership across a geographically dispersed region.
