About the role

As Senior Financial Analyst, you will play a critical role within the FP&A function, providing high‑quality financial analysis, technical accounting insight, and decision support to enable informed, value‑driven decision‑making across Fisher Funds.

You will work closely with senior leaders, General Managers, and enterprise programmes to analyse financial performance, evaluate investment and growth opportunities, and support effective cost management across the organisation.

This is a technically strong role within a regulated wealth management environment, requiring deep accounting expertise, strong commercial judgement, and the ability to translate complex financial data into clear, actionable insights that support strategic priorities and long‑term value creation.

Key responsibilities

Financial analysis & enterprise insight

  • Analyse complex financial data and prepare high‑quality financial analysis and reports that provide insight into the financial health and performance of the organisation.
  • Assess profitability, cost efficiency, and financial performance across business units, products, and initiatives.
  • Interpret financial trends and performance drivers, turning data into insights that inform executive decision‑making.

Budgeting, forecasting & planning support

  • Support the enterprise‑wide budgeting and forecasting process in partnership with the FP&A leadership team.
  • Develop and monitor budgets and forecasts, identifying risks, opportunities, and emerging trends.
  • Contribute to the ongoing enhancement of financial planning, forecasting, and modelling frameworks.

Strategic decision support & business partnering

  • Provide robust financial analysis and advice to support strategic initiatives, projects, and investment decisions.
  • Evaluate the financial implications of strategic options such as growth initiatives, mergers, product changes, or operational investments.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders to assess trade‑offs, risks, and commercial outcomes.

Variance analysis & performance measurement

  • Perform detailed variance analysis between actual results, budgets, and forecasts, identifying root causes and implications.
  • Develop and maintain KPIs and performance metrics to measure financial and operational effectiveness.
  • Assess performance across business units and evaluate the effectiveness of business operations.

Profitability, product & market analysis

  • Analyse the profitability of Fisher Funds’ products, funds, and customer segments.
  • Provide financial insights to Product and Marketing teams to inform pricing, investment, and growth strategies.
  • Support scenario modelling and profitability analysis to guide strategic adjustments.

Skills & Experience:

Technical accounting & FP&A capability

  • Strong technical accounting knowledge within financial services, including NZ IFRS / AIFRS and FMCA requirements.
  • Proven experience in fund accounting and wealth management environments.
  • Demonstrated capability in management accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.

Commercial & analytical expertise

  • High level of commercial acumen, with the ability to identify value levers, optimise performance, and manage risk.
  • Advanced analytical skills with a strong ability to interpret data and develop clear financial insights.
  • Experience supporting business improvement and transformation initiatives through financial analysis.

Relationship management

  • Strong relationship‑building skills, with the ability to work effectively across cross‑divisional teams.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial information for senior leaders and non‑financial stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence decision‑making through credible, data‑driven insight.
  • Proven ability to build, influence, and manage competing stakeholder priorities.
  • Experience working with external auditors, consultants, and third‑party partners.

Qualifications

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or Business Management.
  • CA, CPA, or international equivalent professional qualification.
