About the Role
We’re looking for a commercially driven and relationship-led Business Development Lead to grow Fisher Funds presence across the Wellington region.
Based in Wellington, this is a high-impact role focused on driving regional growth, increasing Funds Under Management (FUM), and strengthening our market presence. Working closely with the GM Growth, you’ll build a strong pipeline, convert opportunities, and establish trusted relationships across the local market.
You’ll play a key role in positioning Fisher Funds as a partner of choice, leveraging networks, local market knowledge, and business development expertise to deliver meaningful growth.

Key Responsibilities:
Regional Growth & Market Expansion
- Lead Fisher Funds business development activity across the Wellington region, identifying and pursuing growth opportunities.
- Build and execute a regionally focused business development strategy aligned to business wide growth objectives.
- Leverage local networks, referral channels, and industry connections to expand market presence.
Lead Generation & Pipeline Development
- Develop and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective clients through proactive outreach, networking, and events.
- Identify new opportunities across key segments, including advisers, intermediaries, and direct clients.
- Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to generate high-quality leads.
Conversion & Revenue Delivery
- Convert qualified leads into clients through tailored investment solutions and conversations.
- Drive measurable increases in FUM through consistent pipeline conversion.
- Track, monitor, and report on pipeline activity, conversion rates, and revenue outcomes.
Client Engagement & Retention
- Build trusted, long-term relationships with clients and partners across the region.
- Understand client needs and deliver personalised investment solutions.
- Partner with internal teams to ensure a seamless onboarding and client experience.
Market Insight & Collaboration & Reporting
- Maintain a strong understanding of the Wellington market, including competitor activity and emerging opportunities.
- Use insights and data to refine business development strategies and improve outcomes.
- Provide regular updates, insights, and feedback to the GM Growth and broader team to support informed decision‑making.
Skills & Experience:
Proven Business Development Expertise
- Experience identifying and securing new business opportunities, ideally within financial services or a related field.
- A demonstrated ability to convert leads into clients and deliver measurable growth outcomes.
Wellington Market Knowledge
- Established networks and a strong understanding of the Wellington financial services landscape.
- Experience engaging with advisers, intermediaries, or high-value clients is highly advantageous.
Relationship & Stakeholder Management
- Exceptional ability to build trust, influence, and maintain long-term relationships.
- Confident engaging with a wide range of stakeholders, both externally and internally.
Commercial & Strategic Thinking
- Strong commercial acumen with the ability to identify and act on growth opportunities.
- Comfortable using data and insights to inform decisions and refine strategies.
Communication & Collaboration
- Clear, confident communicator with strong presentation and influencing skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively while operating with a high level of autonomy.

- Highly motivated, outcome-driven, and accountable for delivering on growth targets.
