About the role
This is an opportunity to step into a high-impact Tax Manager role at Fisher Funds, where tax is embedded in how the business operates, not just a compliance function.
Reporting to the GM Financial Reporting, Control & Tax, the role oversees end-to-end tax compliance while managing tax risk across a complex investment environment.
Working closely with teams across the business and external partners, you’ll provide practical, commercially focused advice on projects, transactions, and new investment opportunities, gaining real visibility and influence along the way.
With a focus on “no surprises,” you’ll ensure tax is proactively managed and clearly understood, supporting confident decision-making and smooth business operations.
Key responsibilities:
Tax compliance & reporting

Deliver end-to-end tax compliance, including preparation, review, and filing of tax returns

Manage relationships with external providers and review outsourced returns and workpapers

Ensure compliance with tax legislation and regulatory requirements
Advisory & business support

Provide tax advice on projects, transactions, and new investment opportunities

Partner with internal teams to support decision-making with practical tax insights
Risk & governance

Identify, manage, and mitigate tax risks across the business

Maintain effective tax governance, controls, and compliance processes
Process improvement & problem solving

Establish and enhance tax processes, systems, and controls

Resolve complex tax issues and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
Skills & Experience:
-
Strong technical expertise across income tax, GST, FBT, AIL, PIE, NRWT and RWT

Experience in tax compliance, including preparation and review of returns and workpapers

Knowledge of investment vehicles (e.g. PIEs, Unit Trusts, Limited Partnerships) and their tax treatment

Strong communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for stakeholders

Commercially minded, with sound judgement and problem-solving capability

Experience operating in a complex environment, with an understanding of tax governance

Tertiary qualification in Commerce or Law, 5+ years’ NZ tax experience, and CA ANZ membership (or equivalent)
