Position Summary

We are looking for a creative, talented, and self-starting application engineer to join our Support and Applications Group to help our customers get the most out of our software and to leverage the knowledge learned from these interactions to continuously improve our software. Gamma Technologies develops GT-SUITE, a sophisticated desktop software package for simulating almost any kind of engineering multi-physics system, such as those arising in the automotive, aerospace, and other industries, involving fluid, thermal, mechanical, electrical, electromagnetics, chemical and controls elements. It also utilizes a sophisticated set of user interfaces including map-based and 3D-based pre- and post-processors.

Specifically, we are looking to add someone to our electrical application engineering team. This team supports customers and designs software with applications in battery, motor, and power electronic systems. For power electronics applications, Gamma Technologies offers GT-PowerForge for pre-design of power converters, and GT-SUITE for multi-physics modeling of motors, inverters, and other systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Assist customers that use our software to design and analyze their systems, including many leading electric vehicle companies
  • Carry out proof-of-concept projects to demonstrate cutting edge software solutions to prospective customers
  • Use customer feedback and interaction to design and test new product features
  • Interact with established and emerging companies through training classes, conferences, and marketing events

  • Experience designing and building power electronics systems such as inverters and DC-DC converters
  • Experience with multi-physics design and analysis of power converters, including electrical, thermal, and magnetic analyses
  • Motors & Drives:
    • Experience with equivalent circuit modeling of common traction motor types, especially interior permanent magnet machines and motor controls strategies, including field-oriented control of motors like max torque per ampere and field weakening
    • Experience with common 3-phase inverter modulation strategies like space vector pulse width modulation, sine pulse width modulation, and 6-step modulation
    • Knowledge of electromagnetics and motor design
  • Experience with automotive applications, including design, measurement and instrumentation, controls, simulation and/or SAE projects (Formula SAE, Formula SAE Electric, EcoCAR, etc.)

We Offer

  • Dynamic and highly talented team of experts
