Position Overview
We are seeking an accomplished and results-driven Business Development Manager to join our dynamic events team. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the success of a launch portfolio of events in Australia and Canada in the first year, with growth the mindset for subsequent years. It has a particular focus on the real assets financing industry.
Our events business is strategically positioned to capitalize on the increasing demand for high-quality networking platforms and industry engagement. As a Business Development Manager, you will play a pivotal role in identifying and securing new business opportunities, cultivating long-term client relationships, and driving revenue growth. This position requires a strategic mindset, exceptional communication skills, and a proven track record in business development, particularly in the context of B2B launch events.
Job Responsibilities
- Drive and exceed sponsorship, advertising, and tailored marketing revenues
- Engage regularly with key accounts to align solutions with their business development goals, utilizing face-to-face, Teams, or phone interactions
- Prospect and secure new accounts through networking, campaigns, cold calls, and lead generation channels
- Identify and capitalize on upselling and cross-selling opportunities between awards, events, and subscriptions
- Collaborate with internal teams (sales, programming, marketing, editorial) to deliver and grow revenue streams
- Become an expert in both sales processes and real asset finance related to IJGlobal and Green Street
- Turn client feedback into actionable strategies to drive new business, product development and address competitor risks
- Maintain accurate Salesforce records for pipeline tracking and business insights
- Provide regular progress reports and forecasts to sales management
- Partner with marketing and product teams to convert leads and create tailored sales opportunities
- Travel for client meetings and events to foster relationships and generate sales
- Ensure timely invoice payments by coordinating with finance and credit control teams
- Meet and exceed revenue and client engagement targets, thriving under pressure
Candidate Profile
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken) with high numeracy proficiency
- Proven track record of driving new business development opportunities, preferably in emerging markets
- Ability to be immersed in a collaborative culture where success is shared and celebrated
- Are able to be disciplined with strong time management capacity alongside great work and admin habits
- Excellent presentation and telephone sales abilities
- You are highly motivated, eager to learn, and coachable, with a great attitude
- Confidence in engaging with senior-level influencers, budget holders, and decision-makers
- Desirable: Solid understanding of the real estate sector
- Exceptional organizational and time management skills
- Flexible and adaptable team player who thrives independently when needed
- Persistent and professional sales approach
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Experienced in using Salesforce effectively
Compensation, Benefits and Work Authorization
In addition to a basic salary, this position is eligible for commission and benefits (subject to eligibility requirements). Total compensation is based on several factors including, but not limited to, type of position, location, education level, work experience, and certifications. This information is applicable for all full-time positions.
