Job Description

As our Information Security Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and integrity of Poka's information systems and data. This position involves managing day-to-day operational information security, developing and maintaining security policies and procedures, and working closely with our engineering team to uphold best practices and security requirements. The Information Security Specialist is also responsible for researching, recommending, and implementing new security solutions to enhance Poka's overall security posture.

What you’ll be responsible for:

Operational Information Security Management

  • Oversee day-to-day information security operations.
  • Respond to and resolve or escalate reported security incidents, conducting post-mortem analysis to prevent future occurrences.
  • Manage and support the local infrastructure, corporate-owned devices, and network.
  • Conduct vulnerability scanning and assess identified vulnerabilities, implementing corrective actions to mitigate risks.

Security Solutions

  • Research, recommend, evaluate, and implement information security solutions to mitigate potential threats and security violations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure security requirements are met during system and software development.

Engineering Team Support

  • Champion our "shift-left" initiative by actively promoting security awareness and knowledge sharing among development teams, ensuring security considerations are addressed early in the development process.
  • Assist in integrating security controls into the software development lifecycle.
  • Promote a culture of security awareness and knowledge sharing.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar information security role.
  • Ability to work in English in collaboration with our Canadian security team
  • Availability to work outside typical working hours from time to time
  • Strong knowledge of technical security concepts, including IDS, SIEM, and other relevant tools.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies and their security implications.
  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (e.g., Python, Ruby) for automating security tasks.
  • Experience with penetration testing or "capture the flag" competitions is a plus.
