Job Description

Reporting to the Finance Director, Group Balance Sheet and based in Colombo, Sri- Lanka, the role of Group Accounting Analyst will support the Group Finance Director, Group Balance Sheet ensuring that we are able to report timely and accurately our group results each month. Our group is currently spread over 85 entities in around 35 countries and is continually growing both organically and through acquisitions. The Group Accounting Analyst will primarily focus on detailed reviews of entity balance sheet reconciliations, promoting good practices and uniform processes across the group to mitigate against balance sheet risks supporting the production and reporting of our consolidated results.

The Group Accounting Analyst, as part of our Group Accounting Team, will support the production and reporting of our consolidated results. It plays an important role in both the monthly group consolidation process and group reporting as well. It will also assist with managing the Balance Sheet review process within the Group, as well as, supporting any tax reporting and audit requirements.

Essential Duties and Accountabilities

Assist with production of Group Consolidated monthly IFRS reporting including but not limited to:

  • Coordinating entity balance sheet reviews, maintaining notes and agreed action points.
  • Prepare weekly Accounts Receivable report.
  • Maintain and update monthly Group Balance sheet reports and reconciliations using reports from GC Cube.
  • Assist with the preparation and analysis of Net Working Capital changes
  • Support the process to eliminate inter-company differences across the Group as required.
  • Support the preparation of monthly reconciliations of all group-arising balances and eliminations incl. checking Group P&L as required
  • Support tax reporting, audit queries and other year-end requirements
  • Broad range of dynamic, ad hoc reporting of consolidated information

Support the Group reporting process including, but not limited to:

  • Preparation of weekly AAR reporting to Execs, including the calculation of DIO matrices
  • Preparation of monthly analysis of Net Working Capital (NWC) position with variance to prior year, prior month and plan
  • Prepare and create relevant reporting to build better controls and efficiency within the department as required
  • Support balance sheet related reporting for senior management
  • Support the preparation of Group’s monthly Cash Flow reporting as required
  • Complete all activities in accordance with IFS standard operating procedures

Support the Balance Sheet Control process including, but not limited to:

  • Support the Finance Director, Group Balance Sheet, in managing the Group balance sheet review process as required
  • Schedule and arrange of Quarterly review with local entities
  • Collect Balance Sheet reconciliation files ahead of reviews, highlighting areas of discussion with line manager
  • Document follow up actions from review meetings
  • Provide assistance to local accountants on Balance Sheet reconciliations and reporting

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Chartered Accountant - ACA, ACCA or CIMA Qualified
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and GAAP
  • Excellent excel skills
  • Fluency in business-level English language
  • Previous experience of group reporting and consolidation
  • Candidate should have minimum 5 years of experience in Group Financial Accounting and Reporting, preferably within an international environment

Desirable:

  • IFS Cloud
  • Previous experience in preparation of balance sheet reconciliations

Overall Required Competence:

  • High standard of technical accounting under IFRS
  • Attention to detail and ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to learn new things quickly and hit the ground running
  • Willingness to work outside of comfort zone
  • Positive attitude and a team player
  • Excellent communications skills
