Poka, a rising star in the global manufacturing landscape dedicated to empowering frontline workers, is expanding its operations in Sri Lanka. We are looking for a highly skilled Software Engineering Manager to lead and inspire our Sri Lankan engineering teams while collaborating closely with counterparts in Canada. In this role, you will manage multiple development teams, ensuring effective communication and successful project delivery. Your leadership will be crucial in driving technical excellence, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, and enhancing team collaboration. Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and lead multiple software development teams, providing mentorship, guidance and fostering professional growth to ensure overall success and team cohesion, while carrying out HR management responsibilities
- Oversee the end-to-end software development lifecycle, from ideation and design to implementation, testing, and deployment, ensuring alignment with business objectives and timelines
- Work closely with Sri Lanka engineering teams, product owners, UX designers, and stakeholders in Canada to define project needs, priorities and timelines, effectively communicating progress and challenges
- Drive continuous improvement and innovation within the development teams by implementing best practices, optimizing processes and fostering a culture of continuous growth, excellence and collaboration with a constant focus on quality and user experience
- Maintain the level of excellence in the teams by recruiting top-tier talent and managing performance to build and maintain high-performing teams
- Develop and manage performance metrics to ensure transparency in team operations, setting strategic objectives that promote growth and success
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices and emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge
- Create and maintain a synergistic knowledge base across the teams and facilitate efficient issue resolution and learning
Qualifications
- University degree in Computer Science/Engineering, Information Technology or a related field or equivalent qualifications
- Proven track record in a similar role, demonstrating proficiency in managing software development teams in an agile environment, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience across software development lifecycle
- Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams across geographies and time zones
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for driving continuous improvement and innovation
- Proven track record in software engineering with a strong focus on building and leading high-performance engineering teams
- Solid understanding and practical experience with agile methodologies, including Scrum and Kanban.
Additionally, - Strong technical background with expertise in Python, Django, Angular (TypeScript), AWS or other Cloud based environments, Swift is an added advantage
- Experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Governance, QAOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) or integrating AI and ML solutions is also an added advantage
