Job Description
As a Systems Engineer in the IT@IFS Datacenter and Cloud Service CoE team, you will be responsible for maintaining and operating our infrastructure, with a primary focus on our VMware environment, which currently hosts approximately 10k servers across three datacenters located in Sweden, Sri Lanka, and the USA. You will also have opportunities to implement, monitor, and maintain Microsoft Azure and AWS solutions, covering key services related to compute, storage, networking, and security.
Your role will involve a mix of operational tasks and development projects aimed at ensuring the optimal performance and stability of our services. As part of a global team, your mission will be to create and sustain a reliable technology platform supporting all IFS IT services.
Qualifications
A degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Computer Systems & Networking along with 3 to 5 years hands on experience as a Systems Engineer – Public & Private Cloud Services.
Azure and AWS Administrator certifications.
Excellent understanding in Native Azure & AWS services, Azure VMware Services and VMware vSphere platforms.
Excellent understanding on Windows & Linux distributions.
Sound knowledge of containerized environments such as Azure Kubernetes Services [AKS] / Docker.
Excellent understanding on Terraform & ANSIBLE automation technologies.
Sound knowledge on latest on-prem & cloud backup technologies for virtualized production environments which will mostly consist of Application/Database systems.
Excellent knowledge of hyper converged infrastructure & storage arrays.
Good knowledge on Cloud & on-prem infrastructure monitoring tools.
Good understanding of networking fundamentals and Azure virtual networks.
Good knowledge on cloud economics (FinOps).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Work effectively individually or in a team-oriented, collaborative environment with great interpersonal and consulting skills.
Implement and comply with site-specific operations and security policies.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
Additional Information
Design and implement cost-effective cloud solutions aligned with business requirements.
Manage, deploy, and maintain native Azure, AWS solutions, and Azure VMware Services (AVS).
Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to Azure and AWS services.
Developing and implementing cloud cost optimization strategies aligned with business objectives.
Assist in forecasting and budgeting for cloud services.
Plan and execute cloud migration projects to transition on-premises systems to cloud environments.
Oversee the deployment and maintenance of on-premises virtualized platforms and physical data center infrastructure.
Identify and address technical issues in on-premises data centers, providing sustainable solutions.
Ensure data security by performing regular backups.
Monitor and optimize cloud resources for performance and availability.
Stay current on technologies relevant to cloud and on-premises data center operations.
Plan and execute upgrades, documentation updates, inventory assessments, network security audits, and capacity planning.
Provide Tier 1, 2, and 3 support, including collaboration with external vendors to resolve issues effectively.
Review past and ongoing incidents to maintain exceptional customer service levels.
Develop technical documentation in alignment with business requirements.
Engage with vendors for information gathering and implementation projects.
Collaborate across diverse business units and interact with stakeholders at various seniority levels.
