Job Description

About the Role:
The Quality Engineering Office (QEO) at IFS ensures top-tier quality, tooling & reporting, and infrastructure across R&D. Our mission is to drive software quality through robust tooling, innovative testing, and advanced automation. We enable the R&D teams to improve software reliability and efficiency.

Collaborating closely with development teams and leadership, we define and implement quality strategies, introduce new testing capabilities, and optimize automation infrastructure. Our focus is on enabling teams to deliver world-class software solutions while evolving QA practices to meet market demands. Our customers are internal and consists of all teams in R&D.

We are looking for a Product Specialist - QA who will play a critical role in shaping the future of quality assurance at IFS. While this role carries the Product Specialist title, it extends beyond traditional responsibilities to incorporate some elements of lightweight product management, including strategic planning, investment decision-making, and roadmap responsibilities.

As a key member of the Quality Engineering Office team in R&D, you will help drive quality strategy, ensuring that IFS is at the forefront of QA innovation while optimizing cost and engineering efficiency. You will contribute to setting future direction, analyzing industry trends, and collaborating with internal stakeholders to implement high-impact solutions. Your excellent expertise in QA, DevOps, and technical solutions will allow you to bridge the gap between development teams and business needs, ensuring the highest quality outcomes across IFS.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify investments and help drive the QA strategy and roadmap, aligning it with the broader R&D objectives.
  • Assess current gaps in R&D within our target domain and plan the future roadmap accordingly.
  • Conduct market and competitor research to identify trends, opportunities, and emerging technologies in quality, test tooling and reporting, as well as test infrastructure, and assess their potential impact on IFS.
  • Lead investment planning for QA-related initiatives, ensuring strategic alignment with business goals and maximizing efficiency.
  • Collaborate closely with development teams, internal stakeholders, and leadership to define and implement quality-focused improvements.
  • Ensure that QA processes and technologies support cost optimization and workforce efficiency.
  • Provide thought leadership on QA best practices and industry trends, guiding teams on where to invest for the future.
  • Leverage technical expertise to understand and communicate the impact of technical solutions on QA processes and business outcomes.
  • Act as a key liaison between QEO, product teams, and other internal stakeholders, ensuring seamless communication and alignment.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure QA strategy success and inform decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain engineering value propositions (EVP) that clearly articulate the benefits of investments undertaken by the team.
  • Champion continuous improvement and innovation in quality assurance and DevOps practices.
  • Lead and support initiatives across R&D, including upskilling QA professionals, running PoCs on new test automation tools, and rolling out AI-driven testing capabilities.
  • Participate in hands-on work where needed, such as implementing maturity models, defining quality metrics, and establishing test strategy frameworks within IFS R&D.

Qualifications

  • Strong domain knowledge in QA (mandatory) and experience in DevOps (preferred).
  • Program or project management experience with a proven track record of strategic planning and execution.
  • Self-driven, visionary mindset with the ability to take ownership of initiatives and drive them to success.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management skills – able to engage, influence, and align multiple teams.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts for different audiences.
  • Experience in roadmap planning and setting the future direction for QA investments.
  • Solid understanding of cost optimization, engineering efficiency, and business impact in QA decisions.
  • Technical acumen – ability to grasp and communicate the implications of technical solutions.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and make data-driven decisions.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a strategic mindset.
  • Experience in creating value propositions (EVP) is a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and project management tools is a plus.
