Job Description
A Senior Manager/Manager Software Engineering (Software Engineering Leader) manages the process of delivering software at IFS relating development investments to the overall R&D Product Strategy, as per our 7-Stages Development Process. The ability to articulate the What and Why to their teams based on their close working relationships with both Product and Program Managers is key to the success in this role. As well as working with the Director Quality Assurance to ensure quality is constantly reviewed and is a key part of the planning and execution stages of development.
You help continuously improve consistent development processes in line with the wider industry to ensure the timely delivery of high quality, secure, and performant software. These processes include but are not limited to automated testing at multiple levels, code reviews, security reviews, and the evolution of the architecture. In addition, you ensure collaboration with the UX team to deliver great user experiences.
You coach, develop and build a team of dedicated resources. Each team member should have achievable but stretching goals to allow for personal growth and career development. You play a key role in the recruitment of team members and will look to upskill the team at any available opportunity.
You will foster good proactive relationships with stakeholders across IFS, including colleagues in support. You minimize the amount of R&D time you teams spend supporting the product and minimize escalations by delivering high quality, well documented software with a “right first time” approach and attitude. There should be regular engagement with the Support Leaders to feedback areas of concern and take affirmative action to address problems as they arise.
This role sits in the R&D Energy and Resource group. The E&R group is a globally distributed group located in Sri Lanka, US, Canada, India. You will be part of the E&R Leadership Team and an active contributor to the strategic and operational work in the group. You are part of defining the plans and priorities as well as highly involved in the execution.

- Results-oriented approach with a strong focus on achieving successful outcomes
- Extensive expertise in agile development methodologies
- University qualification in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a closely related field
