Job Description
GIS Technician is an entry-level professional serving as a member of a team. This individual identifies points, lines, and polygons, with associated data, related to the oil and gas industry - wells, mineral leases, surface ownership, and/or land grid. GIS Technician receives detailed instructions, works on problems of limited to moderate scope, and follows standard practices in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
Responsibilities:
- Acquire and interpret county and state level data using most cost effective and efficient processes to meet and or exceed budget requirements and currency guidelines
- Plan and organize route for optimal data acquisition
- Route Maintenance: Provide supplies for requested data, identify new sources for data acquisition, and ensure the most update to date information for our data sources
- Foster relationships with data source vendors
- Capture best practices to ensure data deadlines are met based on current requirements
- Process electronic data (CD, FTP, and Website) for integration into company proprietary software
- Maintain teams Microsoft SharePoint, OneNote, and website lists
- Distribute the finalized collection to Data Acquisitions QAQC process
- Distribute final Quality Assurance / Quality Control output to internal customers
- Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and business communication skills; strong collaboration
- Strong Leadership and Mentoring skills
- Well organized and efficient with keen judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Self-starter, able to work with minimal direction from management. Understands need for lateral thinking; Displays willingness to adapt to new ways of doing business.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and/or certificate or equivalent experience with high school diploma
Minimum of 1 - 5 years of relevant work experience in Oil & Gas Upstream data
Able to work / be available a couple hours a day that overlap with US Business Hours is a must
