Job Description

GIS Technician is a junior professional serving as a member of a team. This individual identifies points, lines, and polygons, with associated data, related to the oil and gas industry - wells, mineral leases, surface ownership, and/or land grid. The GIS Technician works with limited instruction, works on problems of moderate scope, and follows standard practices in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.

Responsibilities:

• Collect, interpret, and maintain a wide variety of documents related to Oil & Gas Upstream and Land data

• Create and edit geospatial data (points, lines, and polygons) based on available documentation

• Understand and apply key concepts and terminology related to geospatial data (i.e.: survey methods and legal descriptions of land) and Oil & Gas Upstream asset management and lifecycle events (i.e.: permits, leases, ownership, completions, plugs, and monument control points)

• Create and maintain internal documentation with respect to data workflows, processes, etc.

• Provide quality control of data in areas of subject matter expertise

• Resolve assigned customer concerns and data quality and/or geospatial accuracy

• Train colleagues in team processes and procedures.

• Excellent verbal and written interpersonal and business communication skills; strong collaboration

• Well organized and efficient with keen judgment, problem-solving and decision-making skills

• Able to work independently with minimal direction from management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or professional designation or certificate or equivalent experience with high school diploma

• Minimum of 1 - 3 years of relevant work experience in Oil & Gas Upstream data

• Able to work / be available a couple hours a day that overlap with US Business Hours is a must
