Job Description

The Site Reliability Engineer role exists within the global Cloud Operations organization. The role forms part of a shift team based in Sri Lanka, which reports into a Senior SRE & Cloud Manager who is responsible for the operational and people management aspects of that shift. The shifts together form the Cloud Service Centre team who provide support to the IFS customer base across all IFS cloud services. The role handles multiple aspects of incident and service requests. Working with multiple internal and external stakeholders related to our supported services.

Primary job role:

  • Investigate, diagnose, and resolve issues occurring on the SaaS hosted customer infrastructure, including SQL Servers, Linux Servers, Windows Servers and Web application servers
  • Work closely with the DevOps team to implement new automation techniques and identify solutions to increase productivity and reliability
  • Providing diagnostic and repair services on a variety of database and application systems
  • Provision new servers in Azure and private datacentres including software applications, networking configuration and security provisioning
  • Work with 3rd party providers to ensure product Security and to implement data centre changes
  • Perform customer application upgrades, migrations, certificate updates and database restores/backups

Qualifications

  • A formal qualification (degree, HND, etc.) in Computer Science, Information Technology or similar
  • Networking knowledge with an understanding of firewalls, VPNs and Load Balancers.
  • Knowledge of any configuration management tools: Ansible, Terraform, Powershell, Azure CLI
  • Experience with version control software such as Git
  • Experience with Public Cloud hosted solutions
  • Any knowledge or experience of process automation via scripting
  • Any knowledge on F5 Load Balancers and/or Azure Front Door
  • Any knowledge on Azure SQL, Azure VM or Azure Networks
  • At least 1-2 years’ experience in Azure Cloud Services
  • Experience in a modern ticket/service desk tooling such as ServiceNow, Jira Service Desk, or a similar tool
  • Some level SQL Server administration skills.
  • Understanding of both Windows and Linux Server OS administration.
  • Good understanding of network topology and system architecture.
  • Proven track record in self-managed learning and sharing expertise.
  • Basic experience of scripting in PowerShell and/or bash
  • Role forms part of a Shift Rota (Mon-Fri or Sun-Thu)
