THE ROLE

In our Linux department we develop the Linux-based operating system IGEL OS. Our developers accompany the entire development process from planning to completion and specialize in sub-areas such as kernel development, graphics system, hardware support and operating system security. As the manager of a development team, you have a decisive influence on new developments and assume personnel responsibility, responsibility for projects, technologies and software architecture. In order to expand further and strengthen our market position, we are looking for a Manager Software Development (m/f/d) with a focus on Linux Core OS for our offices in Augsburg, Bremen, Karlsruhe or remote.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• You take over technical and disciplinary responsibility for an existing development team
• The creation of a pleasant team culture through transparent communication, coaching and conducting employee appraisals is one of your core tasks
• You help shaping the software development process and have the freedom to realize your own ideas in your area of responsibility
• You take professional product responsibility for products or product areas and drive further development and maintenance (redesign, refactorings)
• Implementing software projects (maintenance, further development and technological renewal) in the environment of existing products is also part of the role
• Planning and developing our Linux operating system architecture is taken over by you
• You support the development, maintenance and integration of operating system components (base system, kernel, graphics system, hardware support, bootloader, etc.)
• Working in an agile working environment with modern methods and motivated colleagues is appreciated by you

QUALIFICATIONS

• You have a degree in computer science, mathematics, electrical engineering or relevant professional experience with qualified technical training
• Additionally, you have at least 5 years of experience in software development under Linux
• You have in-depth knowledge of the structure and functionality of Linux operating systems
• You have very strong programming skills in C/C++, Python and Bash
• Creating and implementing software designs and service architectures is familiar to you
• Ideally, you have leadership and project experience
