THE ROLE:
The Senior Director, People Partnering (m/f/d) is a senior, hands-on leadership role responsible for delivering pragmatic, managing a team delivering high-quality people partnering support across Germany, UK, EMEA, APAC and India.
This role is suited to someone who is comfortable rolling their sleeves up, staying close to the work and stepping in when needed, including covering for team members during absence, while providing clear direction and support to the People Partnering team.
Reporting to the VP People, EMEA & APAC, the role works closely with the Director, People Operations & Global Recruitment and the Senior Director, HR Compliance, ensuring people partnering activity is aligned, compliant and operationally effective in a fast-growing international software environment.
The role will also deputise for the VP People, EMEA & APAC during periods of absence, providing continuity of leadership, decision-making and stakeholder support.
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Hands-On People Partnering
• Provide day-to-day people partnering support to senior leaders across multiple regions, remaining close to operational issues and delivery
• Act as escalation point for complex employee relations matters, stepping in to manage cases personally where appropriate
• Cover People Partnering activity during periods of absence or peak demand to ensure continuity of business support
• Ensure advice is practical, proportionate and aligned to IGEL’s culture and pace
Leadership & Deputy Responsibilities
• Deputise for the VP People, EMEA & APAC, representing the People function in senior forums and decision-making as required
• Provide leadership continuity and clear judgement during periods of absence
• Escalate appropriately while maintaining momentum and confidence in the function
Team Leadership & Accountability
• Lead, develop and performance-manage a team of People Partners and Generalists, setting clear expectations around ownership, responsiveness and quality
• Maintain visibility and accessibility as a leader, providing hands-on coaching and support
• Build a trusted, delivery-focused partnering function that leaders rely on
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Work in close partnership with the Director, People Operations & Global Recruitment to ensure smooth execution across the employee lifecycle
• Collaborate with the Senior Director, HR Compliance on people matters requiring compliance input
• Support coordinated delivery during organisational change, workforce planning and growth initiatives
Business Support & Change
• Support leaders through growth, change and complexity with clear, pragmatic advice
• Contribute to performance, talent and succession discussions in a grounded, execution-focused way
• Maintain appropriate oversight of risk, documentation and decision-making
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Essential
• Extensive experience in a senior People Partnering / HR Business Partnering role
• Direct, hands-on experience supporting organisations across Germany, the UK, EMEA, APAC and India
• Strong employee relations capability with sound judgement
• Proven experience leading and managing a team of People Partners
• Experience in a fast-growing international software or technology company
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and German
Desirable
• Hindi language skills
• Experience in scale-up or transformation environments
