The Role
We are looking for an experienced Lab Administrator to build, operate, and maintain a reliable and scalable engineering test lab from the ground up.
The Lab Administrator will own the end-to-end lab infrastructure, including physical servers, virtualization platforms, networking equipment, racks, cabling, connectivity, and day-to-day lab operations. The role requires strong hands-on experience in configuring and managing hypervisors such as Proxmox and KVM, along with the ability to troubleshoot switches, routers, and internet connectivity issues.
You will work closely with QA, development, IT, and engineering teams to ensure that the lab environment is available, stable, secure, and ready to support product testing and automation.

The Role

The Lab Administrator will own the end-to-end lab infrastructure, including physical servers, virtualization platforms, networking equipment, racks, cabling, connectivity, and day-to-day lab operations. The role requires strong hands-on experience in configuring and managing hypervisors such as Proxmox and KVM, along with the ability to troubleshoot switches, routers, and internet connectivity issues.
You will work closely with QA, development, IT, and engineering teams to ensure that the lab environment is available, stable, secure, and ready to support product testing and automation.
Tasks
- Build and set up engineering and QA test labs from scratch, including rack planning, hardware installation, cabling, power, and network connectivity
- Install, configure, and maintain physical servers and virtualization infrastructure
- Configure and manage hypervisors, including Proxmox and KVM
- Create, maintain, and troubleshoot virtual machines and virtualized test environments
- Configure and maintain switches, routers, firewalls, and other networking equipment used in the lab
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, and internet access issues
- Manage lab assets, including servers, networking devices, storage, cables, and other infrastructure equipment
- Monitor lab health, capacity, resource utilization, and infrastructure availability
- Perform hardware troubleshooting and coordinate repairs or replacements when required
- Maintain documentation for lab topology, rack layouts, IP addressing, hardware inventory, and infrastructure configurations
- Support QA and engineering teams with lab setup, environment provisioning, and infrastructure-related issues
- Improve lab reliability, scalability, standardization, and operational efficiency
- Establish processes for lab access, equipment usage, maintenance, and issue tracking
Qualifications
- BE/MCA/Diploma, university degree, or equivalent technical training and professional experience in computer science, IT, networking, systems administration, or a related field
- 10+ years of relevant experience in lab administration, data center operations, systems administration, or engineering infrastructure
- Demonstrated experience in building and establishing a test or engineering lab from scratch
- Strong hands-on experience with Proxmox, KVM, and virtualization technologies
- Strong troubleshooting experience with switches, routers, network connectivity, and internet-related issues
- Good understanding of physical server hardware, networking, storage, racks, cabling, and power infrastructure
- Experience with Linux systems and virtual machine administration
- Ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex infrastructure and connectivity issues
- Strong ownership of lab operations, availability, and day-to-day maintenance
- Ability to work with limited supervision and collaborate effectively with QA, development, IT, and other engineering teams
- Takes ownership of complex lab infrastructure work and provides technical leadership within the team
