ROLE SUMMARY:The Human Resources Manager plays a central role in the growth and development plan of the Inspired Schools in Portugal - PaRK International School, St. Peter’s International School and King’s College School Cascais.You will work closely with the school’s Executive Head and Senior Leadership Team to ensure that the HR function delivers an efficient and effective service across our Inspired Schools in Portugal.You will oversee and be responsible for a full range of HR activities which will combine hands-on generalist operational delivery and some business partnering.This is a temporary role, to replace the current Portugal HR Manager on Maternity Leave. This project is expected to last until August 2024.The following is a general description of the role, not an exhaustive list of all that may reasonably be required.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead and manage HR department team (currently 4 FTE);
- FTE’s and budget reporting;
- Develop and manage the HR efficiency grid and the HR budget;
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall School’s strategy and mission;
- Manage the recruitment and selection process;
- Manage the admission and integration of new staff;
- Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, motivation and preservation of human capital;
- Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics and procedures across the organization;
- Nurture a positive and engaging working environment;
- Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance;
- Implement career development strategies;
- Assess training needs in order to promote, develop, apply and monitor a sustainable training program;
- Report to management and provide decision support through HR metrics;
- Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management namely drafting employment contracts and ensuring compliance with deadlines for renewals and forfeiture;
- Identify opportunities for improvement
- Proven working experience as HR Manager or other HR Executive;
- Experience of working in a fast-paced environment and being able to work independently.
- People oriented, effective team player and results driven;
- Data-driven and competent user of HR technology and systems (e.g., SAP Success Factors), including comfortable with running analysis on workforce and HR data;
- Strong problem solver, comfortable with ambiguity and able to provide pragmatic solutions.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company;
- Fluent in English (written and verbal communication skills, with an eye for detail) and ideally basic knowledge of Portuguese.
