King’s College, world-renowned for academic excellence and student leadership, is seeking to appoint a dynamic, inspiring and ambitious professional to the position of Summer Camp Deputy to join our teaching team on a temporary basis. Non-Residential Monitors will report to the Activities/Academic Coordinator and, when necessary, the Course Director.

General Duties

Key responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  • Respect the guidelines set down by King’s College S.L. (Staff Handbook).
  • Be prepared to follow a flexible working timetable.
  • Attend the Director's Meetings in Madrid.
  • Create and organise the course timetables along with the coordinators (Class times, Games and Sports, Workshops, Excursions, Staff duties, Days off etc.) for the

Residential Course to be shared with the Deputy and Operations Director before the Training Day.

  • Check the lists of materials/resources needed for the Courses before the start of the course and inform of any missing items.
  • Once the course is underway, any requests for additional materials/replenishments must be sent to KC S.L. Operations Director in writing.

General Course Duties

  • Maintain an awareness of fire, health and safety and safeguarding regulations (Staff Handbook).
  • Work as part of a team.
  • Be responsible for the well-being of the children and staff in the course.
  • Be prepared when necessary to take a child from the course to the nearest Health Centre or hospital.
  • Complete a Daily Incident and Parents Complaint Sheet to be given to the Director-Department of Language Courses upon request.
  • Ensure that all staff follows the timetable, maintaining punctuality.
  • Maintain parent/teacher contact (on site or via telephone).

EFL Class Duties

  • Student grouping with teachers at the start of course.
  • Monitor activities or classes, making changes where necessary, trying to balance the groups for age, level and sex, etc., as much as possible.
  • Offer help and advice to teachers on both an academic and personal level, assisting with the preparation of classes and activities: providing photocopies, ideas or

other academic materials as and when they are needed.

  • Supervise and monitor the planning and preparation of English and Project Classes with teachers according to the established Summer Schools.
  • Hold meetings with the Coordinators and Deputy to assess the Daily Lesson and Activities Plans and activities in order to check the suitability and content of the

material and offer guidance when necessary.

Activities & Sport Duties

  • Create and organise the course timetables (Games and Sports, Workshops, Excursions, Staff duties, Days off etc.).
  • Check the lists of materials/resources needed for sports and activities before the start of the camp and inform administration in the case of missing materials.
  • Once the course is underway, any requests for additional materials/replenishments must be sent in writing to KC S.L. Operations Director in Spain.
  • Check lesson observations completed for every monitor by the Activities Coordinator.
  • Maintain contact/inform the Bus Monitors of any problems/changes that may affect the schedule on the Residential and Non-residential Course.
  • Supervise the creation of the timetables and group lists for optional activities such as tennis, swimming and horse riding classes to later be given to the instructors.
