ROLE SUMMARY:

Inspired is seeking to appoint a “Multi-skilled Facility Management Technician” to join St John’s International School on a Full-Time basis.

Founded in 1964, St. John’s International School is a private, non-profit educational institution. We are an IB continuum school committed to excellence in education through inquiry-based, child-centred teaching and learning. We are accredited by the Council of International Schools (CIS) and the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA).

Circa 500 students from 55 countries pursue a challenging academic curriculum that includes an emphasis on development in athletics and the arts, all within the context of the ethos and values that make St. John’s unique.

Self-taught mother tongue languages are also offered in Grades 9 to 12.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The General Maintenance and Facilities Assistant supports the Facility Manager in the daily management of the school’s facilities and services, helping to ensure a safe, functional, and pleasant environment for students and staff.

Maintenance and Repairs

• Perform routine maintenance work within school buildings (plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting)
• Carry out minor repairs on equipment and furniture
• Identify and report to the Facility Manager any issues requiring specialist intervention

Space Management

• Assist with the setup and rearrangement of classrooms and common areas as needed
• Support internal moves and the installation of new equipment
• Contribute to the preparation of school events (meetings, exams, ceremonies, sports activities)

Safety and Compliance

• Conduct regular checks of safety systems (alarms, fire extinguishers, emergency exits)
• Ensure compliance with current health and safety standards
• Assist the Facility Manager in implementing safety protocols

Logistics Support

• Handle school supply purchases at least once a week or as needed
• Manage inventory of supplies and maintenance materials
• Coordinate the reception and distribution of mail and packages

This multi-faceted role within an international school offers a wide variety of tasks and requires constant adaptability to meet the specific needs of a multicultural school environment. The employee will play a key role in supporting the Facility Manager to maintain an optimal learning environment for the school community.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

• A vocational diploma in a relevant technical field (building maintenance, plumbing, carpentry, etc.)
• proficiency with basic IT tools (MS Office)
• A valid driving licence (Category B)
• previous experience in a similar position, ideally in a school environment
• Reliable, well-organised, and able to work independently
• Ability to manage shopping lists and procurement tasks
• Strong organisational skills and ability to prioritise tasks
• Team player with good communication skills
• Proactive and flexible when dealing with unforeseen situations
• Knowledge of school-specific safety and hygiene standards
• Discreet and professional attitude
• Good command of English and/or other languages (a strong asset in an international environment)
