A Manager of Business Development Representatives leads and develops a team of BDRs to drive high-quality pipeline through disciplined outbound/inbound lead generation, qualification, and rigorous Salesforce-enabled pipeline management. The Manager, Business Development Representative sets clear performance expectations, coach on discovery, qualification, value articulation, and next steps, while fostering a collaborative, accountable team culture. This role partners closely with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to align on lead standards, improve handoffs and processes, and continuously refine the company’s lead generation playbook.
- Core
- Manage and develop a team of Business Development Representatives and Senior Business Development Representatives responsible for lead generation, qualification, and pipeline development
- Lead by example in outbound execution and prospect engagement, maintaining a strong understanding of day-to-day BDR and Sr. BDR workflows
- Ensure consistent execution of lead generation and qualification activities, aligned to defined cadences, qualification criteria, and pipeline goals
- Reinforce disciplined use of Salesforce and other tools to support accurate pipeline tracking and reporting
- Ensure the team effectively identifies prospect pain points, gathers requirements, and articulates business value aligned to prospect needs
- Partner cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Operations to support effective Lead-to-Booking management and opportunity progression
- Validate lead quality prior to Sales engagement to ensure alignment with qualification criteria and handoff standards
- Support identification and optimization of new business opportunities across outbound, inbound, and campaign-driven efforts
- Leadership, Coaching, & Development
- Recruit, onboard, and retain high-performing BDR and Sr. BDR talent
- Set clear expectations for performance, execution quality, and professional development
- Lead team members through the company’s performance management and development process
- Provide regular coaching focused on discovery, qualification, value articulation, and next-step execution
- Support development of Senior BDRs as subject matter experts and mentors within the team
- Foster a collaborative, accountable team environment aligned to company strategy and values
- Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Sales to ensure strong alignment on lead qualification standards, warm handoffs, and opportunity follow-up
- Collaborate with Marketing partners, including campaign and product marketing, to support effective lead generation strategies
- Partner with Operations and leadership to identify process improvements and remove execution friction
- Surface recurring themes, challenges, and insights from outbound execution to inform broader GTM efforts
- Execution Oversight, Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Monitor and review individual and team performance against weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals
- Ensure accurate reporting of activity, pipeline contribution, and results
- Support testing efforts in lead generation activities and outbound approaches
- Identify and document best practices to refine and evolve the company’s lead generation playbook
- Address routine execution challenges and escalate broader program risks with clear context and recommendations
- Skills & Experience
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop BDR and Sr. BDR teams
- Strong business and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively across functions
- Strong working knowledge of Salesforce CRM and outbound prospecting tools
- Familiarity with the insurance industry and B2B SaaS sales motions is an asset
- Recommended 5+years of experience with a history of exceeding lead targets or Bachelor's degree in related field
