Job Description
Role Overview
The Senior Technical Writer is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining comprehensive documentation for healthcare technology products, ensuring content accuracy, clarity, and alignment with departmental and corporate objectives. This role drives the planning, technical validation, and publication of user-facing and internal documentation across multiple formats, including online help systems, knowledge base articles, user guides, release notes, and training materials. The Senior Technical Writer collaborates closely with R&D, product owners, and subject matter experts to deliver technically precise, user-focused content that supports both internal teams and client success.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive end-to-end documentation lifecycle: Plan, develop, validate, and publish assigned projects including online help systems, knowledge base articles, user guides, release notes, training guides, video scripts, and installation guides, ensuring on-time delivery synchronized with software development cycles and product milestones.
- Develop and maintain customer-facing knowledge content: Design and continuously improve knowledge base articles on the corporate service portal, identifying content gaps and user needs to create effective, engaging educational materials for both internal and external audiences.
- Collaborate cross-functionally for technical accuracy: Work closely with technical writers (local and global), R&D teams, product owners, and subject matter experts across functional areas to ensure documentation is technically accurate, concise, and aligned with established guidelines and style standards.
- Ensure documentation quality and consistency: Maintain adherence to established style guidelines, improve documentation processes where needed, and serve as a subject matter expert by developing comprehensive knowledge of company products and their role within PACS systems.
- Manage project scope and timelines: Define scope of assigned work, estimate project tasks, update schedules, and deliver documentation on time in alignment with product development cycles and organizational milestones.
Qualifications
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technical Communication, or equivalent
- 6+ years of technical writing experience in IT product development environments
- Demonstrated expertise with industry-standard documentation tools: MadCap Flare, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Word, HTML/CSS
- Proficiency with collaboration and version control tools: JIRA, Confluence, GitHub or MadCap Central
- Bilingual proficiency in English and French to support documentation needs for diverse user populations
- Strong competency in structured authoring, conditional text, single sourcing, image capture and editing, and software defect tracking
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, user-focused content
- Proven ability to drive projects independently while collaborating effectively with subject matter experts across diverse functional areas
- Ability to manage full project lifecycle from planning through publication
Preferred Qualifications & Special Requirements
- Understanding of ITIL, Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices
- Experience with PACS systems and radiology industry workflows
- Experience developing case studies, capability documents, or white papers
- Familiarity with healthcare technology domain and regulatory requirements
- Video production and script writing experience
Travel Requirements
- Up to 5% travel within North America may be required for team collaboration, training sessions, or product launches
