SUMMARY
The Lead Hardware Engineer will be responsible for developing and implementing high-quality hardware designs, ensuring alignment with project requirements and standards, to deliver superior technology solutions that propel the organization’s growth and success.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Advanced Technology Development and Strategic Planning
- Set long-term goals for advanced hardware technologies to meet market and customer needs.
- Develop and manage R&D plans, including resources and milestones.
- Identify areas for technology improvement and stay updated with trends.
- Lead R&D efforts to explore new materials and designs for breakthrough solutions.
- Build and mentor a skilled engineering team with continuous learning opportunities.
- Partner with technology vendors to access the latest tools and knowledge.
- Collaborate on projects to speed up innovation and reduce development time.
- Position the company’s hardware as industry leaders with unique features.
Technical and Operational Risk Oversight and Resolution
- Evaluate and analyze risks throughout the hardware development lifecycle, encompassing technical, operational, and compliance-related aspects.
- Develop and implement mitigation strategies to minimize impacts on project schedules, product quality, and overall performance.
- Lead the team in proactively identifying and managing risks, setting strategic direction for risk management frameworks, and fostering a culture of risk awareness.
- Oversee the creation of detailed risk mitigation plans, including actionable strategies and contingency measures.
Customer-Driven Hardware Design and Development Oversight
- Engage with clients to understand their needs, translating them into actionable design requirements to ensure delivered solutions exceed expectations.
- Lead the engineering team in prioritizing customer needs, integrating feedback into the development process, and fostering a culture of customer-centric innovation.
- Guide the creation of customizable hardware options, enhancing customer engagement and loyalty.
TASKS
- System Design: Develop hardware systems, create prototypes, and define specs.
- Project Oversight: Lead projects, guide teams, and liaise with stakeholders.
- Testing: Implement tests, troubleshoot, and ensure standards compliance.
- Documentation: Create and update technical documents and reports.
- Production: Optimize designs for manufacturing, handle supplier relations, and resolve issues.
- Innovation: Integrate new technologies and refine designs.
- Collaboration: Coordinate with other engineers and software teams.
- Risk Assessment: Manage risks and analyze hardware failures.

EDUCATION
- University Post Graduate Degree in a related fields.
- Evidence of strong industry/sector participation and relevant professional certifications
EXPERIENCE
Technical Expertise:
- Years of Experience: Generally, 7-10 years of experience in hardware engineering or a related field.
Managerial Experience:
- At least 7 years' experience of planning, managing and organising resources within short/medium timescales within the overall policy framework.
