Ivanti are looking for a Senior Manager working in DevOps to join our DevOps team in Scotland either in a remote role or working from our office in Dundee. The successful candidate will play a leading role in our mission to enable product development to release software effectively and efficiently with the ultimate goal of enabling organizations to elevate the Everywhere Workplace in a secure environment.

Ivanti are a leading provider of security and service management software. We provide solutions primarily targeted at IT departments within medium to large organizations to help them securely manage their IT infrastructure and service their clients.

What you’ll do
Reporting to the senior director of DevOps and initially leading a scrum team of DevOps engineers you’ll be responsible for shaping and implementing the DevOps strategy for one of our flagship products.
Working with your peers and superiors you’ll be part of the management team that shapes our DevOps strategy. You’ll also be responsible for turning this strategy into action through backlog creation, management of resources and leading by example.
Immediately you’ll be focused on our IT Service Management product. This product is written in C#, with a SQL Server backend and consumed via APIs and a JS framework frontend. It has multiple hosting strategies that include on-prem windows services; and containers on Kubernetes (AKS)
Primary Responsibilities
- Collaborate with peers and superiors to devise a DevOps strategy that is appropriate for the company and the ITSM domain
- Build relationships with product engineering leaders. Respond to the needs of their team and provide practical solutions that help meet their definition of done
- Manage the backlog of the ITSM DevOps team and provide direction to the contributors on your team
- Provide hands on coaching / feedback on the primary responsibilities of the team. i.e. Build Pipelines, IaC, CI Tooling & Monitoring
- Where appropriate lead by example. You’ve been there and done it so sometimes you’ll have to lead the way
- Provide progress reports to your superiors and stakeholders on initiatives your team are committed to
- Line manage the individuals on your team so they can fulfill their potential by holding regular one to one’s, responding to their needs and challenging them
Desired Experience
- Management experience where you’ve been responsible for line management and delivery of projects.
- An advanced understanding of DevOps practices such as CI/CD and DORA metrics
- Code authoring and writing reusable, maintainable code in version control
- Experience of working with Containers and orchestration using Kubernetes
- A good understanding of common application architecture
- Using cloud provider’s services to host applications and adoption of new abstractions. For ITSM we primarily use Azure for our SaaS customers
- A history of continuous improvement with concrete examples of how your efforts improved efficiency
- IaC experience using Terraform, Bicep, Helm Charts, etc.
- Generating documentation using UML and company wiki
